This Día de Mu***os, we remember those who have lost their lives crossing the border and honor the families who continue to carry their memory.

Through our Volviendo a Casa program, Border Angels helps bring loved ones home to their families, even when they cannot return in life. Every person deserves to be remembered with dignity, and every family deserves the opportunity to grieve, find answers, and say goodbye.

This beautiful reel was created in collaboration with students from Tecnológico de Monterrey, CSocialesTec, as part of their Global Challenges learning experience. Through this collaboration, students explored the human realities of migration and the lives behind the numbers.

Behind every life lost at the border is a person with a story, a family, and a community that misses them. This Día de Mu***os, we honor their memory and reaffirm our commitment to helping families find their way back to one another.

You can donate or learn more about Volviendo a Casa through the link in our bio.

Because no one should be forgotten, and every loved one deserves a way home.🕯️🌼

This month, 7 students from the University of Utah joined Border Angels for a Day Laborer Outreach at the Fairmount and Imperial Marketplace Home Depot locations in San Diego. Together, we distributed 40 care packages filled with socks, T-shirts, water, Gatorade, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and snacks.

During our outreach, day laborers shared how increased ICE presence has created fear throughout their communities. Some have stopped showing up to familiar gathering places to look for work, while others described seeing increased enforcement activity in the area. At one location, laborers were already aware of a recently announced 45-day ICE enforcement operation and expressed concern about what it could mean for their families and livelihoods.

Amid this uncertainty, one message stood out at both locations: Know Your Rights (KYR) information is more important than ever. Laborers expressed their appreciation for the cards and for Border Angels’ continued presence, reminding them that they are not alone.

We are grateful to the University of Utah students who took the time to prepare and distribute these packages and connect with our community.

If your school/group/organization would like to join us or find out what other educational opportunities are available please email contact our coordinator Ana Miguel at [email protected] today!

On October 10, Border Angels and Borderlands Relief Collective joined forces for a Water Drop in the Otay Mountains.

Twenty volunteers came together to hike approximately 8 miles, delivering essential supplies and honoring the lives of two men who lost their lives along this route.

Our teams covered two routes, with Border Angels hiking the Teddy Bear Shrine Trail and BRC traveling up Otay Mountain before hiking down to our final drop site. There, we placed plaques at two crosses established last year in memory of Xiao Lainqing and Sun Pinhai, two Chinese men whose lives were lost in the borderlands. We carry their names with us as we continue this work.

Together, our volunteers delivered 39 bottles of water, 162 electrolytes, 160 cans of food, and 15 care packages.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, including our safety monitors, Tori and Tristan, and our partners at Borderlands Relief Collective. Your time, care, and dedication make this work possible.

After nearly four years of uncertainty, Carlos Eduardo Quintero Angel has finally been identified. Now, we’re working to help his family bring him home and return his ashes to Venezuela.

In this video, Carlos’s sister shares her gratitude for everyone who has supported this effort. Her words show us that behind every fundraiser is a family, a story, and a loved one who is deeply missed.

We’ve almost reached half of our fundraising goal, but we still need your help to raise the remaining funds to cover the $4,900 cost of bringing Carlos home to his family.

If you’re able, please consider donating and sharing this fundraiser with your community.

Donate through the link in our bio.

Thank you for standing with Carlos’s family and helping us bring him home.

Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we recognize and honor the Indigenous peoples whose ancestral lands we live and work on.

Border Angels operates throughout the San Diego–Tijuana border region, lands that have been home to the Kumeyaay people for over 12,000 years. The international border we know today cuts through a region that existed long before the border itself, and the Kumeyaay people continue to maintain deep connections to this land, culture, and community.

As an organization working in the borderlands, we believe it is important to recognize the history of the land where our work takes place and the Indigenous communities who have cared for it for generations.

For us, caring for the borderlands means caring for the people who travel through them, caring for the land itself, and learning about the Indigenous communities whose connection to this region long predates the modern border.

Carlos Eduardo Quintero Angel
After nearly four years of searching, Carlos Eduardo Quintero Angel has finally been identified.

Carlos was a Venezuelan father of two who came to the United States hoping to find work and build a better future for his children. He was last known to be alive in Piedras Negras, Mexico, in August 2022. His remains were later found in Texas and remained unidentified for years.
His sister never stopped looking for him.

Through DNA, forensic evidence, photographs, and Carlos’s distinctive tattoos, his identity was finally confirmed in 2026. Now, his siblings have one final wish: to bring their brother home to Venezuela and give him a final resting place with his family.

The funeral home has provided a cost of $4,900 for his cremation and the return of his ashes.

After years of uncertainty, Carlos’s family finally has answers. Help us give them the chance to bring him home through our Volviendo A Casa Program.

You can help us reach our goal by donating through the link in bio or texting CARLOS to 707070.

Every donation brings Carlos one step closer to his family.
