May 31, 2026 – RMI Outreach Program Concludes Historic CNMI Visit
The Republic of the Marshall Islands’ Outreach Program has successfully concluded its first official visit to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), led by Ambassador Charles R. Paul and accompanied by a dedicated team from the RMI Oregon Consulate and Embassy in Washington, D.C. They were joined by RMI Honorary Consul to the Marianas, Michelle Kramer.
This milestone visit marks one of the first on-the-ground efforts to strengthen ties with Marshallese communities abroad, while supporting recovery efforts following Super Typhoon Sinlaku.
During the visit, the team met with community leaders, conducted outreach and needs assessments, and engaged with CNMI leadership to build stronger partnerships and connections.
The RMI extends its heartfelt thoughts and prayers to all those affected and reaffirms its unwavering support for the CNMI’s recovery. Governor Apatang and Lieutenant Governor Mendiola also expressed their sincere gratitude to President Hilda C. Heine and the RMI people for their generosity and support.

May 29, 2026- The Republic of Marshall Islands Outreach Team paid a courtesy visit to Saipan Mayor Ramon “RB” Camacho, who shared his office’s guiding motto, “Safe Community, Safe Village, and a Clean Island,” while emphasizing efforts to diversify community events and strengthen collaboration with CNMI Marshallese leaders.
During the meeting, Mayor Camacho also outlined key Typhoon Sinlaku recovery initiatives led by his office. The RMI Outreach Team conveyed sincere condolences from Her Excellency President Hilda C. Heine, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Kalani Kaneko, Ambassador Charles R. Paul, and the Government and people of the Marshall Islands, reaffirming their support for the CNMI’s continued typhoon recovery and resilience.

Saipan, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands – 25 May 2026
His Excellency Ambassador Charles R. Paul met with the Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), the Honorable David M. Apatang, to discuss ongoing recovery efforts following the devastation of Super Typhoon Sinlaku.
During the meeting, Governor Apatang conveyed the CNMI’s sincere appreciation to Her Excellency President Dr. Hilda C. Heine and the people of the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) for their continued support and generous contribution toward the CNMI’s recovery efforts.
Ambassador Paul was accompanied by Honorary Consul Michelle Kramer and members of the RMI Outreach Program team, including Anita Jatios-Alik and Maxine Kaneko from the Oregon Consulate, and TaAnn Kabua-Demapan from the RMI Embassy in Washington, D.C.
During the delegation’s visit to the CNMI, the team engaged with Marshallese community leaders, including the Saipan Menunaks, conducted outreach and needs assessment activities, and participated in site visits and coordination efforts. The visit also included preparatory work for ongoing community townhalls and consular support services aimed at assisting Marshallese families and local residents.

My bill to support Micronesian veterans, H.R. 6652, the U.S. Vets of the FAS Act, passed out of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee with unanimous bipartisan support.
This legislation is about honoring the service and sacrifice of our COFA veterans by ensuring they receive access to the care and benefits they have earned, including telehealth, beneficiary travel, and medications as the bill now advances to the House Floor.
