Rail freight journeys between Sydney and Melbourne are now 88 minutes faster following improvements delivered along the corridor over the past year. 🚆

That includes our recent ‘super possession’ in September when more than 1,000 workers completed maintenance and upgrades across 200 sites in just a few days. 👷🏼 It was a huge, coordinated effort, helping deliver faster, smoother and more reliable journeys for freight operators and passengers.

We’re proud of our Newcastle team members who took part in I Run For Her last weekend and raised more than $3,000 for Got Your Back Sista, placing them among the top three fundraising teams.

The event brought people together to run or walk and say no to domestic and family violence, while raising vital funds to support women and children rebuilding their lives. Learn more: www.irunforher.com.au

Everyone deserves to come home safely from work.

This National Safe Work Month, we're reflecting on what it takes to make that happen for the people working across our rail network.

From how work is planned to the challenges our teams face each day, we know there's more we need to understand and improve.

Safe work is an everyday responsibility, and one we must keep working at.

To everyone working across the rail industry, have a safe October.

A major digital upgrade is helping make rail safer, simpler and more efficient across NSW. 🚆

TMACS Electronic Authorities are now operating across more than 1,500km of ARTC's network. Electronic Authorities are digital instructions that tell train drivers where they can safely travel and any conditions that apply. The technology provides clearer information to train crews, reduces routine radio communication and manual handling, and supports more efficient train movements for freight and passenger services. 🛤️

Importantly, it’s another step towards a more connected and interoperable rail network, supporting the competitiveness of rail to meet Australia's growing freight task.

🛤️ The first concrete sleepers have arrived along the Maroona to Portland rail line, marking an important milestone in one of Victoria’s largest regional rail upgrade projects.

The project will see around 250,000 ageing timber sleepers replaced with new low-profile concrete sleepers in the 173km freight corridor in the state’s west. Once complete, the upgrade will support a safer, more reliable and resilient rail connection to the Port of Portland, helping regional industries move goods more efficiently by rail. 🚆

School holidays are here! Please remember to drive safely and take care around level crossings.

Trains can't swerve or stop quickly. In fact, a fully loaded freight train can take up to 2km to come to a complete stop.

Always look and listen for trains when approaching a level crossing, obey signs and signals, and only cross when it’s safe. Stay rail smart and enjoy the holidays.

New upgrades are helping Australia's rail network become more resilient to extreme weather.

Five ageing culverts between Pimba and Tarcoola in South Australia have just been replaced with larger, stronger structures that reduce flood risk and improve reliability during heavy rainfall.

These upgrades help keep freight moving and support the supply chains that communities and businesses rely on every day.
