On the occasion of National Technology Day 2026, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Mohali, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Raebareli, and National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Hyderabad and National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Kolkata showcased cutting-edge indigenous technologies in biotechnology, advanced drug delivery, green chemistry, neuroprotective therapeutics, nanotechnology, and rapid diagnostics at the exhibition organised by Department of Biotechnology in New Delhi as part of the Vigyan TECH 2026 celebrations. The exhibition was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh.

➡️ NIPER, Mohali showcased advanced technologies including “BiSpekDAb”, a novel bispecific antibody platform, and “SingleStep Direct Powder Extrusion (DPE)” technology for pharmaceutical applications.

➡️ NIPER, Raebareli presented innovative technologies in neuroprotective therapeutics and green chemistry. The showcased innovations included a catalyst-free green synthesis approach for Kynurenic Acid derivatives with neuroprotective potential, sustainable annulation technologies for industrial translation, advanced dendrimer-based targeted drug delivery systems, and plant exosome-based nanotechnology for diagnostics and therapeutics.

➡️ NIPER, Hyderabad unveiled an ICMR-funded rapid sepsis diagnostic device designed for critical care applications at the ICU bedside. The technology enables rapid categorization of sepsis severity through vascular integrity assessment using a handheld digital scanner and ultra-sensitive detection platform. Currently at TRL-5 and under patenting, the innovation represents a major step towards affordable and scalable indigenous diagnostics.

➡️ NIPER, Kolkata marked a major milestone by showcasing its first-ever technology transfer to industry during . The transferred technology includes advanced fluorescent probes/sensors for Endoplasmic Reticulum and Ribosomal RNA targeting, with applications in biomedical research, cellular imaging, disease diagnostics, and pharmaceutical research.

In line with the growing emphasis on strengthening industry–academia partnerships to drive innovation and translational research in India’s pharmaceutical sector, the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) Hajipur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Boehringer Ingelheim India Pvt. Ltd., marking a significant step towards fostering collaborative research and accelerating healthcare solutions. The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers at Kartavya Bhawan in New Delhi.

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hajipur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), Ghaziabad, under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, to promote collaboration in the areas of pharmaceutical standards, regulatory science, and patient safety, today at Kartavya Bhawan, New Delhi.

In a significant step towards fostering academia-industry collaboration and strengthening research and innovation in the pharmaceutical sector, the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali signed an agreement with Novartis Healthcare Private Limited (NHPL). The agreement was signed in the presence of Shri Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers in New Delhi today.

In the global pharmaceutical landscape, biologics, biosimilars and specialty drugs now account for over 40 per cent of pharmaceutical revenues. Long termed as the 'Pharmacy of the World' due to its leadership in generic medicines, India's pharma industry is now ready to shift gears from scale to innovation. The Government is driving a forward-looking policy framework to ensure that the country captures a greater share of these emerging segments while retaining its strengths in generics.

The 9th edition of India Pharma 2026, organised by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, in association with FICCI and IPA, New Delhi, successfully concluded today, after two days of extensive deliberations aimed at strengthening India’s pharmaceutical and biopharma ecosystem. On the second day of the event, two plenary sessions and a valedictory session were held, focusing on strengthening the pharmaceutical financing ecosystem and charting forward-looking pathways for innovation-led growth.
