Jersey Water We're here to help. Call us on 01534 707300 for general enquiries. Our sole function is to provide a wholesome water supply to our customers.

With a history dating back to 1882, The Jersey New Waterworks Company Limited is the oldest established Company on the Island of Jersey. Growing to meet the challenges of a rapidly expanding Island population with limited natural water reserves – nearly all of the Island’s water supply is derived from rainfall. To do this we must collect untreated or ‘raw’ water, store it, treat it and then distribute it to our customers’ taps. You are welcome to visit our two biggest reservoirs at Queens Valley and Val de la Mare which have countryside trails for you to enjoy.

Who turns the tap off when they brush their teeth?

That’s what we asked Year 2 pupils from Grands Vaux School when they visited us at Grands Vaux Reservoir earlier this month. And we were very happy to see every hand go up!

We spent the visit talking about the water cycle, how our reservoirs work and simple ways we can all save water at school and at home.

It was great to see so much enthusiasm, lots of questions and, most importantly, a class full of young water savers.

We love being able to show young Islanders where their water comes from and why looking after it matters.

Who knows, perhaps we met a few of our water experts of the future...

And our new charity partner for 2026 – 2027 is...

RNLI Jersey!

Over the next year, we'll be supporting the volunteer lifeboat crews who provide a vital lifesaving service around our Island, helping people stay safe at sea, whenever they're needed.

We look forward to fundraising and working together to support the incredible work of RNLI Jersey.

That’s a wrap on our charity partnership with Healing Waves.

Thanks to a year of fundraising with our employees including raffles, cake sales and community events, we have raised over £18,000 to support the charity with its work.

Alongside the donation, we also gifted a water butt at the charity's facilities to support rainwater collection on site.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts along the way.

An update on Queen’s Valley Reservoir…

We’ve reopened Queen's Valley Reservoir following our clean-up operation after Storm Austen.

Our teams needed a little more time to clear fallen trees and branches and make the area safe for visitors, so thank you for your patience.

This means that both Val de la Mare and Queen's Valley reservoirs are now fully open to visitors.

If you're heading to one of the reservoirs, take care as there may still be some light debris along the paths. If you spot any further damage, let us know.

We’re (almost) out of the woods...

After a busy weekend of safety checks and clearing up following Storm Austen, we’ve reopened Val de la Mare reservoir to the public today (Monday 26 October).

We need a little longer at Queen’s Valley reservoir to clear fallen trees and branches following the storm damage, so we don’t expect to reopen until later this week. We’ll keep you updated and let you know as soon as it’s safe to reopen.

If you’re heading out for a walk or run at Val de la Mare, take care as there’s still some debris along the pathways. If you spot any fallen trees or other damage on our land, please let us know.

Thanks for your patience.

An update on our reservoirs…

Both Queen’s Valley Reservoir and Val de La Mare Reservoir will remain closed this weekend.

The decision has been taken for public and employee safety, with essential operational teams focussed on ensuring our water supply operations continue to run smoothly.

The current expectation is that full assessments of the reservoirs will take place on Monday, and both sites will remain closed pending the completion of safety checks.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We will provide further updates when inspections have been completed, and a date for reopening is confirmed.
