Today, Namibia marks Genocide Remembrance Day 2026. We honor the resilience, bravery, and memory of the Nama and Ovaherero ancestors who were systematically persecuted between 1904 and 1908.
True healing as a nation requires us to create dialogue, document, and protect our heritage. But we cannot do it without the next generation.
A call to the Youth of Namibia:
History isn't just found in dusty archives, it lives in your communities and in the memories of your grandparents.
We need you to step up, get curious, and actively collect the stories of our people before they are lost to time. Grab your phones, record the oral histories, ask the tough questions, and archive our truth.
You are the bridge between our painful past and a empowered future. Let’s keep their memory alive. 🕯️🇳🇦

Happening Now: Strengthening the Heart of Namibia’s Heritage 🏛️🇳🇦
We are currently in Khorixas for a critical stakeholder workshop!
As part of the “Africa–Europe Partnerships for Culture” project supported by the European Union and implemented by UNESCO. We are working together to enhance sustainable tourism and conservation.
Today’s session is all about collaboration. We are:
* Reviewing and finalizing our site workplan and priority activities.
* Discussing governance and institutional roles to ensure smooth coordination.
* Initiating vital consultations for the new Integrated Management Plan (IMP).
By using the 'Enhancing Our Heritage' (EoH) Toolkit, we ensure this process is evidence-based, inclusive, and community-driven. It’s inspiring to see traditional leaders, local authorities, and technical experts all in one room, united by a common goal: preserving our heritage for future generations. 🤝✨
