𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐳 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Three teams representing the Province of Guimaras went head-to-head with contenders from across Western Visayas in the 2026 Local Governance Quiz on October 26, 2026, at SM City Iloilo, putting their knowledge of local governance to the test as part of the celebration of the 35th Local Government Month.

Competing in three categories namely: City/Municipal Officials or Employees Category, College Students, and DILG, the teams faced questions spanning the legal foundations, policies, and programs that shape local governance.

Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Atty. Marilou S. Delumpa teamed up with Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators Zurinie Zaldivar of Nueva Valencia and Catherine Ann Gaurana of San Lorenzo in the City/Municipal Officials or Employees Category, clinching first runner-up honors.

The DILG Guimaras contingent, composed of LGOO VI Romie Potot, LGOO V Marijo J. Patrimonio, and Administrative Assistant II Josel Villarma, likewise figured in the competition, finishing as second runner-up.

Rounding out the delegation were Guimaras State University students Jenny I. Galfo, Jane Quillain, and Kimberly Amorin, who competed in the College Students Category, completing the province’s representation across all three categories.

As an annual activity of DILG Region VI every October, the LG Quiz seeks to deepen awareness and appreciation of the 1991 Local Government Code and its continuing relevance to local governance.

The Municipality of San Lorenzo, Guimaras, received recognition at the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗶 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀 held on October 27, 2026, at Diversion 21 Hotel, Iloilo City.

San Lorenzo was recognized as a Regional Finalist in the Municipal Category and received a Plaque of Commendation for its valuable participation as an LGU exhibitor during the 2026 Infra Exhibit, held in celebration of the 35th Local Government Code Month.

This recognition highlights the Municipality’s commitment to promoting infrastructure development, transparency, and accountable local governance.

🏆 Barangay Igcawayan — 1st Runner-Up in the Group Tanod Category for 3rd to 5th Class Municipalities.
🏆 Barangay Cabano — 2nd Runner-Up in the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards for 3rd Class Municipalities.

These recognitions highlight the dedication of our barangay peacekeepers and community mediators in promoting peace, maintaining order, and fostering harmonious relationships within their communities.

𝗜𝗡𝗙𝗥𝗔 𝗘𝗫𝗛𝗜𝗕𝗜𝗧

In celebration of the 35th Local Government Code Month, with the theme “Lokal na Pamahalaan at Pamayanan: Strengthening Partnerships for Open, Innovative, and Responsive Local Governance,” the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region VI organized an Infra Exhibit on October 26, 2026, at SM City Iloilo.

The Municipality of San Lorenzo proudly showcased a scaled model replica of its LGSF-SAFPB project, “Upgrading of Level II Water System to Level III Water Supply System,” highlighting the Local Government Unit’s commitment to improving water access and delivering essential services to its constituents.

This initiative recognizes the importance of infrastructure development, transparent governance, and strong partnerships in building resilient and sustainable communities.

The Municipality of San Lorenzo, celebrated "ANI 2026: Graduation Ceremony and Pantawid Pamilya Family Day – Year 6" on last October 23, 2026, recognizing Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries who have attained self-sufficient (Level 3 well-being) and successfully transitioned toward an independent and sustainable future.

The celebration highlighted the talents, creativity, and potentials of 1,010 Pantawid beneficiaries while strengthening family relationships and partnerships among stakeholders and partner agencies in support of the program’s goals.

This milestone reflects the importance of empowerment, family solidarity, and collaborative efforts in breaking the cycle of poverty and building a brighter future for every Pantawid Pamilya family.

The LGU San Lorenzo proudly celebrates the remarkable achievements of its young talents at the #𝗞𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗮𝗻𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝟮.𝟬, held in celebration of the 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹: 𝟯𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 (𝗡𝗦𝗠) on October 24, 2026 with this year’s theme, “𝘛𝘶𝘬𝘭𝘢𝘴 𝘗𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘴: 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘰𝘯 𝘛𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘐𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦, 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘛𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘮.”

The summit featured various competitions that provided students with opportunities to showcase their knowledge, creativity, and talents in promoting the meaningful use of data and statistics. These included the 𝗡𝗦𝗠 𝗝𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁, #𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸: 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁, 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘇.

Competing alongside schools from across the province, the two secondary schools of San Lorenzo proudly showcased their learners’ talents, creativity, and knowledge, earning recognition in various competitions. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗼 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗮 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 secured 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗦𝗠 𝗝𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 and 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘇, while 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗼𝘀 𝗘. Through these remarkable achievements, the Municipality of San Lorenzo proudly emerged as 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿-𝗨𝗽 (𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹). This recognition reflects the collective dedication, perseverance, and talents of our learners, the guidance of their teachers and coaches, and the unwavering support of the local government of San Lorenzo.

The LGU also extends its heartfelt appreciation to 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗚. 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗮𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 and 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 for their participation in the Poster Making Contest, as well as to 𝗗𝗿. More than the awards, this milestone celebrates the spirit of collaboration and shared achievement that brings pride to the entire municipality.
