, the Fire Safety Asia Conference (FiSAC) is back! This year, alongside The Singapore-International Disaster & Emergency Management Expo - Asian Conference on Disaster Reduction (SIDEX-ACDR), FiSAC 2026 will be held from 28 - 30 October at Singapore EXPO Hall 3.
SIDEX-ACDR in conjunction with FiSAC is poised to be the Premier Platform for Fire, Rescue, Disaster Reduction, Management, and Emergency Response Professionals. The event will offer a unique platform to exchange expertise, foster collaboration, and fortify exhibitors’ brands with esteemed professionals in the field of disaster management and emergency response.
FiSAC 2026, under the theme “Rationalisation. Responsiveness. Resilience. Integrating Fire Safety with Hazard Management”, will feature talks by industry experts on emerging fire risks, digital transformation in fire safety and the future of fire safety. Participants can also look forward to interactive workshops on fire safety conducted by professional fire safety associations.

[Island-wide Public Testing of SG Alert]
At 12pm later today (10 May), SCDF will conduct island-wide testing for the SG Alert mass emergency alert system.
All Singtel users with phones that are running on the latest Apple or Google Android operating system (iOS 26.4 or OS 12, with the latest Google Play system update) will receive the SG Alert message. The alert will appear as a pop-up notification with the header ‘SG Alert’, accompanied by an alert tone and vibration pattern — bypassing devices’ “Do Not Disturb” or silent mode settings.

[Operationalisation and Islandwide Testing of SG Alert on 10 May]
In April 2026, SCDF announced the implementation of SG Alert, a mass emergency alert system that broadcasts time-sensitive emergency alerts to all mobile devices islandwide or within specific geographical zones. This system will be rolled out in phases, beginning with public testing for Singtel network users.
At 12pm on 10 May 2026, SCDF will conduct island-wide testing of SG Alert for Singtel users. Mobile phones will need to be updated with the latest Apple or Google Android operating system (iOS 26.4 or OS 12, with the latest Google Play system update) to receive the alert. No internet connection, application download or account registration is required.
Users will receive a pop-up notification with the header ‘SG Alert’, accompanied by an alert tone and a vibration pattern. The alert will also bypass the phone’s “Do Not Disturb” or silent mode settings.

[NFEC Appreciation and Welcome Ceremony 2026]
The NFEC Appreciation and Welcome Ceremony was held for the outgoing and incoming members of the NFEC at Four Points by Sheraton yesterday (21 Apr).
The outgoing members who have stepped down were presented with appreciation plaques in recognition for their contributions to the NFEC, while the newly appointed members were warmly welcomed to the NFEC family.
Together with our new committee members, the NFEC will continue with our mission to promote fire prevention and emergency preparedness to make Singapore a safe and secure home for all.

Earlier today (21 Apr), NFEC signed a joint agreement with COSEM Safety & Security Services Pte Ltd, marking the return of the Fire Safety Asia Conference (FiSAC), which will be held in conjunction with the Singapore-International Disaster & Emergency Management Expo and the Asian Conference on Disaster Reduction, at Singapore Expo from 28 to 30 October 2026.
FiSAC is one of Asia’s most prominent platforms for professionals and practitioners from the fire safety and building industry to network and exchange insights on innovative fire safety solutions and the latest trends and developments in emergency response.

[Resumption of the Emergency Preparedness Centre]
From Tuesday, 21 April, the Emergency Preparedness Centre (EPC) will be reopened to members of the public.

Singapore to roll out mass emergency alerts to mobile phones from May, starting with Singtel users
Known as SG Alert, the emergency broadcast system will include StarHub users by end-2026, and M1 and Simba by mid-2027.

[SHA-NFEC Fire Safety Dialogue]
On 26 March, NFEC held the annual SHA-NFEC Fire Safety Dialogue together with the Singapore Hotel Association and SCDF.
The session brought together about 70 professionals from the hotel industry to learn more about fire safety, fire safety enforcement and fire certification for hotels. The meeting concluded with a Q&A session where SCDF officers addressed queries relating to fire prevention and fire safety regulation.
We would like to thank Singapore Hotel Association for their support. We are heartened by the strong participation, and look forward to working closely with our industry partners to strengthen fire safety for commercial premises in Singapore.
