I thought I knew my coffee pretty well, considering how often I drink it. But after attending a Coffee Appreciation workshop at Geylang Serai CC, I realised there’s a lot more to that daily cup than I expected.

This was my first time signing up for a People’s Association course, and the session was surprisingly hands on. We started with a coffee quiz, explored different aromas and sampled coffees from Asia, America and Africa. Then came the fun part: using an espresso machine and attempting our first latte art heart. Mine was… recognisable, at least.

But what I enjoyed most was meeting everyone in the course. I made so many new friends along the way, and it was really nice learning, tasting and having fun together. The trainers were so friendly and made the whole experience really easy and enjoyable.

I left with a better understanding of coffee, a new appreciation for my daily cup and, most importantly, some new friends.
