πβ¨ Thatβs a wrap on the 2nd Annual Bukit Merah Model United Nations (BMMUN 2026)!
More than forty passionate student delegates came together to tackle one of the world's most complex geopolitical challenges: the US-Iran conflict. Through rigorous debate, strategic negotiation and thoughtful collaboration, these young leaders navigated differing perspectives and successfully drafted a comprehensive resolution aimed at promoting peace and stability. ποΈπ€
Beyond the final accord, BMMUN 2026 provided valuable opportunities for students to sharpen their critical and analytical thinking, particularly when responding to questions and challenges raised at the Chairβs discretion. Delegates also strengthened their diplomatic communication skills through dynamic discussions and negotiations during unmoderated caucuses. π£οΈβ¨

Our Secondary 3 students had an enriching time exploring skills-based professions through this year's Applied Learning Modules! Across the four exciting modules of Automotive Engineering π, AI Filmmaking π₯, Culinary and Mocktail ππΉ, and Sports and Wellness π₯, the students dived into hands-on experiences that broadened their horizons and sparked new interests. π€π
As part of the programme, students also embarked on learning journeys to witness how the skills were applied in the real world.π€ For many students, these visits were a true eye-opener π³, bringing their classroom experiences to life in a meaningful and authentic way. π
The highlight of the programme was the students' showcase, where they presented their own films, served a delightful spread of dishes and mocktails for teachers, demonstrated teamwork in automotive presentations, and designed sports activities that tested agility and cognitive skills.ππ
Beyond the fun, these experiences supported the students' holistic development, nurturing critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the world of work and their role in society.ππ

During Mother Tongue Fortnight, our students experienced the beauty and richness of language and culture through a series of engaging and meaningful activities πΈβ¨
Our upper secondary Tamil Language students participated in a short film-making workshop π¬ where they explored values from the Thirukkural through creative storytelling. Working in groups, they scripted, directed and produced their own short films, deepening their appreciation for Tamil culture and its timeless relevance in todayβs society π€©
Meanwhile, our lower secondary Tamil Language students explored the vibrant Madhubani art form π¨, learning about its unique patterns, colours and cultural significance while creating their own artwork inspired by Indian traditions, nature and mythology πΏβ¨
Over the same period, our Malay Language students also took part in enriching experiences that brought the Malay language to life π₯³. Secondary One students bonded through traditional games such as chapteh, five stones and marbles π€Ήπ½ββοΈ, while Secondary Two students explored Malay herbs and spices in a hands-on workshop, creating natural insect repellents using lime, cloves and lemongrass πͺ΄
Secondary Three students showcased their creativity in a translation challenge, including translating the school song into Malay πΌ, while Secondary Four students gained insights into the relevance of the language today through an inspiring sharing by deejays from Ria 89.7FM πΏ
Through these experiences, students developed a deeper appreciation of language, culture and heritage, while learning through creativity, collaboration and connection π«Άπ»

On 12 May 2026, BMSS celebrated a historic milestone with our very first Student Leaders Investiture π This meaningful occasion brought together our student leaders from the Student Council and Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) under one united banner, symbolising the passing on of leadership, responsibility and commitment π€
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our outgoing Secondary Four CCA and Student Council leaders for their unwavering dedication, service and the strong legacy they leave behind π At the same time, we were proud to officially invest our incoming Secondary Three CCA leaders, alongside our Secondary Two and Three Student Councillors, as they stepped forward with confidence and determination to serve the school community β¨
As role models and leaders, these Merahans have committed themselves to serving with integrity, responsibility and heart π We wish them all the best as they begin this new chapter of leadership and continue to inspire those around them π

Festivo VIII was truly an unforgettable experience for the Merahan family! From our talented performing arts CCAs to the Aesthetics Education Programme (AEP) groups, every performance lit up the stage with energy, creativity and passion π
Centred around the contemporary and thought-provoking theme of Artificial Intelligence π€, this yearβs musical brought together music πΆ, dance πΊ, technology π» and storytelling π in an exciting and meaningful showcase. Months of hard work and rehearsals culminated in a spectacular performance by students from the Drama Club, Concert Band and Modern Dance Club, alongside our AEP groups in percussion π₯, K-Pop π€ and Bollywood π
Their dedication and teamwork shone through in every act, captivating the audience and filling the theatre with cheers and applause πβ€οΈ Throughout the afternoon, Festivo VIII celebrated not only the incredible talents of our Merahans, but also the strong spirit and unity of the school community πβ¨

This yearβs English Week transformed the school into a vibrant celebration of creativity, expression and communication. πβ¨ To cultivate a deeper love and appreciation for the English Language and Literature, the English and Literature department organised a series of exciting activities for all Merahans. ππ
Secondary One students unleashed their imagination πΌοΈποΈ by repurposing everyday materials into eye-catching costumes π¦ΈββοΈπ¦ΈββοΈ inspired by their favourite literary characters. Secondary Two students stepped into the role of βdoctorsβ at the Grammar Clinic π©Ίπ, spotting and correcting language mistakes with enthusiasm and teamwork. Secondary Three students put their quick thinking to the test through an intense game of Taboo π, while Secondary Four students tackled the fast-paced Pyramid Game, sharpening their vocabulary π and communication skills π£οΈ through exciting word challenges.
Our lower secondary Literature students explored the beauty of expression through the crafting of meaningful, original haikus π¨ that were both insightful and Instagram-worthyπΈβ¨, while our upper secondary Literature students went head-to-head in a lively Poetry Face-Off filled with passion, confidence and creativity. ππ₯
Merahans also rose to the challenge in an exhilarating Countdown-inspired showdown against their teachers during assembly, π§ β‘ putting their vocabulary skills and mental agility to the test in a thrilling battle of words. Despite the formidable challenge, students held their own and even claimed several rounds, demonstrating impressive linguistic prowess and quick thinking πͺπβ¨
From costumes and games to poetry and performance, English Week brought language to life in fun, creative and memorable ways ππβ¨, reminding us that words have the power to bring feelings and ideas to life. ππ

The fourth edition of the BMSS Heart X Sole Challenge took place at Jurong Lake Gardens π³ποΈ, bringing students and staff together in a vibrant display of endurance, resilience and school spirit π.
What began as a 2.4km run quickly became a day filled with determination, laughter and unforgettable memories π. The event kicked off with an energetic mass warm-up π€ΈββοΈπ€ΈββοΈ and loud cheers π’ before runners set off on the course π. From the excitement at the starting line to the final push towards the finish π, Merahans gave their all while encouraging and supporting one another every step of the way πͺππ€.
After the race πββοΈπ¨, some students enjoyed activities organised by the Parent Support Group (PSG) π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦π, while others bonded over casual sports β½π.
More than just completing the run, Heart X Sole celebrated teamwork, perseverance and the strong school spirit that brought everyone together β¨. The event concluded with a prize presentation π

From 6β8 April, our Secondary 4 and 5 Merahans experienced an enriching GROW Week π± that brought learning beyond the classroom. Students participated in interactive workshops on study skills, financial literacy π°, and examination strategies π, gaining practical tools to prepare for the years ahead. The vibrant Merahan Olympics showcased energy, teamwork and school spirit, with 5N1 (Boys) and 4E6 (Girls) emerging as handball champions.π
The dialogue session π¬ with our school leaders also provided a meaningful platform for students to share their thoughts and suggestions. π Our Merahans planned their own Free Day outings to Sentosa, East Coast Park πand bowling sessions π³, creating unforgettable memories with classmates as they prepared to close their secondary school chapter. The week concluded with exciting ECG industry visits to organisations such as Geniebook, Grand Hyatt Singapore, Singapore Youth Flying Club, and Kindle Garden at Enabling Village, where students gained valuable insights into diverse career pathways.
GROW Week inspired our graduating cohort to discover their passions, build resilience, and step forward with confidence as they prepare for life beyond BMSS. π±β¨

Grow Week for the Secondary 3 Merahans was truly an unforgettable experience ποΈπβ¨
From conquering the high elements and pushing through long hikes to rafting together as a team π§ββοΈπ₯Ύπ£ββοΈ, every activity was filled with adventure and excitement. We laughed through the tough moments π, cheered one another on at every height π, and even campfire night became a highlight we will not forgetπ₯.
It was especially meaningful to witness everyone stepping out of their comfort zones and supporting one another, building trust and resilience along the way π€πͺ. It is amazing how just a few days away from everything can bring you closer to the people who matter. Camping with friends is not just a tripβit is a collection of unforgettable βwe actually did thatβ moments

Experiences like these remind us that learning goes beyond textbooks; it is about growth, character, and discovering oneβs potential ππ± These are memories we will carry with us for a long time.
