This week is Invisible Disabilities Week!
October 18th - 22th, 2026

This Invisible Disabilities Week, we seek to raise awareness about invisible disabilities, and their impact on daily life. Invisible disabilities can include a variety of conditions, such as chronic pain, fatigue, mental and cognitive disorders, and autoimmune disorders. While these conditions may not be easily seen, they can profoundly limit daily activities, and can lead to judgments and stigma about those living with these conditions.

October is Learning Disabilities Awareness Month

This month, our goal is to increase awareness about learning disabilities, which can include conditions like dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, ASD, Nonverbal LD, and many others, and affect individuals of every age. The purpose of Learning Disabilities Awareness Month is not just to highlight these issues, but also to disseminate information and bolster support for individuals facing learning challenges.

By breaking down barriers and fostering opportunities for those with learning disabilities, we help the entire community!

Today Is White Cane Awareness Day!
October 15th, 2026

Today, we recognize the rights of individuals who navigate independently with the aid of the white cane, while also honoring their achievements and autonomy. The white cane symbolizes freedom, safety, and independence, empowering individuals to travel confidently in their workplaces, educational settings, and communities. The right to move freely is safeguarded by White Cane laws across all 50 states.

October is Guardianship Awareness Month

This Guardianship Awareness Month, we take the time to highlight the essential role of guardians. They bear the significant responsibility of making decisions for individuals who cannot advocate for themselves, while upholding their dignity, safety, and well-being.

This month also serves as a valuable opportunity to reflect on and communicate your wishes regarding future medical care, especially in situations where you may be unable to express those wishes later on. In planning ahead, you can prepare for your healthcare needs and ensure that your values and beliefs are honored during times of serious illness or crisis.

October is Long Term Care Planning Month!

Long-Term Care Planning Month aims to raise awareness among older adults and caregivers about potential cost of healthcare as they age. Nearly 70% of adults 65 or older will eventually need some form of long term care.

Long-term care can include activities like grooming, dressing, eating, bathing, meal preparation, and other activities of daily living. Most retirement savings and insurance plans do not cover many aspects of long-term care. Starting to save earlier can help you live your best life for longer!
