Get ready, Philly! Tomorrow is Election Day, and if you haven’t already, make a plan to get out to the polls and vote!

My full testimony to the Philadelphia School Board yesterday. This plan is about a lot more than dollars and cents. It’s students, it’s families, it’s our communities. So far we have more questions than answers, and we need Mayor Parker to get involved. This isn’t a time to sit on the sidelines, it’s time to get in the game. Save our schools!

Today, our school community showed out in full force for a rally ahead of the School Board meeting with one main message: to tell Mayor Parker to get involved and save our schools!

Students and teachers from Lankenau, Blankenburg, Robeson, Overbrook, Parkway West, Parkway Northwest, Stetson, Waring, Harding, Wagner and more came out to demand action from City Hall and the School Board.

We don’t need to be closing schools that work, especially when the School District and the city have hundreds of millions of dollars in the bank.

Thank you to everyone who came out, and stuck around for the School Board meeting, to share your voice and fight to save our schools!

🚨TOMORROW 🚨

Meet us at the School District building (440 N. Broad Street) and join the fight to save 17 schools. We are urging the school board to rethink the plan and put our students first! We are also calling on the Mayor to get involved and speak up for our students, teachers and faculty, and our communities.

Let’s continue to speak up, advocate, and make our voices heard. I hope to see you there!

Today, City Council held a hearing investigating the abrupt closure of the Academy of Natural Sciences. We heard from experts in museum administration, arts and culture leaders, former and current staff members, and dozens of passionate advocates. I want to thank every witness who gave their expert testimony and every member of the public who shared their Academy stories and memories in public comment.

Who we did not hear from, though, also tells a story. Council requested the testimony of Drexel’s president and members of the Parker administration. They didn’t show, leaving Council and the public with more questions than we had answers.

So next time, it won’t be a request, it will be a demand. We recessed this hearing until November 16th at 10AM in City Council Chambers. Join Council as we try to get to the bottom of why this closure happened, what’s really going on, and what happens from here.

This past weekend, we hosted our 4th Annual PHLGaming Conference!

Every year, we continue to see the growth and progression of Philadelphia’s gaming community. Since first establishing the task force, the goal has always been to shine a light on Philly’s thriving gaming industry and connect current and aspiring developers, gamers, and creatives with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.

We’re excited to see how this community continues to grow in the years ahead! A huge thank you to all of our partners, task force members, and everyone who came out on Saturday to make this year’s event a success. We’re just getting started!
