Macedonia FACE proudly congratulates Carmen Ramsey Ellington, our dedicated Operations Manager, on receiving Allegheny College's Alumni Medal—the institution's most prestigious alumni honor recognizing loyalty and distinguished service.

Presented during Allegheny College's Alumni Luncheon over Reunion Weekend, the Alumni Medal has a rich history dating back to 1937 and is awarded to alumni who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and service to their alma mater and community.

A member of the Class of 1986, Carmen studied English at Allegheny College while actively participating in the Association of Black Collegians, The Campus newspaper, intramural athletics, and the pom pom squad. Since graduation, she has continued to lead and inspire, serving as President of the ABC Alumni Association since 2015 and contributing to numerous landmark initiatives.

Throughout her career, Carmen has championed nonprofit leadership at organizations including the August Wilson African American Cultural Center and the Hill House Association. Today, she continues her passion for service as Operations Manager at Macedonia Family & Community Enrichment Center, helping strengthen families and support communities throughout Pittsburgh's Hill District and Allegheny County.

Carmen's dedication, leadership, and commitment to uplifting others embody the values we strive to uphold every day at Macedonia FACE.

The 2026 Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is now available for eligible older adults in Allegheny County. This year, Farmers Market vouchers will be distributed through a mailed application process rather than large in-person distribution events. Eligible older adults may receive $25 in vouchers to use at participating Pennsylvania farmers markets.

Applications are available now at the Macedonia FACE Active for Life Senior Center. If you need assistance filling out your application, you can stop by the center on June 3, June 10, and June 17th from 10:15am to 11:15am. Outside of those times, staff will only be available to give you an application or answer general questions.

Spring has officially sprung at our Senior Center, and so has the power of community 🌱💚

Our Seniors were thrilled to welcome amazing volunteers from Dollar Bank, United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania, and Grow Pittsburgh as we worked together to prepare our patio garden for the seedlings our Seniors have been nurturing with care.

From mulching and garden prep to building benches and removing stubborn root balls, these teams showed up ready to work — and because of them, our garden is blossoming not only with plants, but with partnership, love, and community connection.

A special thank you to Camryn Lochar and Adam Baron for helping assemble such an incredible volunteer team. The support and relationships built through these moments are truly priceless.
