NYSUT President Melinda Person's statement on Tier 6 changes coming in 2026 state budget New York’s Tier 6 reforms will lower the retirement age for eligible teachers, reduce pension contribution rates, increase retirement savings for SUNY and CUNY employees, and improve pension calculations for many public workers.
