Last week, DPR’s Environmental Justice & Equity and IPM teams cohosted a Sustainable Pest Management workshop with the ABLE Community Development Foundation, Inc. to share pest management resources with Southeast Asian residents of West Contra Costa County.

Over 50 community members and leaders, community health workers, and county health staff attended to learn about SPM practices for home and garden settings to protect public health and the environment.

DPR will hold the inaugural meeting of the Sustainable Pest Management (SPM) Advisory Committee on Monday, June 15, 2026. Over the next three years, the committee will meet quarterly to advise DPR on goals, strategies, policies, and partnerships that advance SPM across California.

Two new DPR regulations will take effect on July 1, 2026.

• Groundwater Protection List: We’re updating the list of pesticides that could affect groundwater and removing those that no longer pose a risk.

• Heat Illness and Protective Suits: We’re making the rules for chemical‑resistant suits easier to understand and removing an outdated heat‑illness requirement for workers who wear them.

El Departamento de Reglamentación de Pesticidas de California solicita comentarios sobre nuevas regulaciones propuestas. Las nuevas normas requerirían que el DPR revise y registre los pesticidas utilizados para tratar semillas, así como informes mensuales sobre el uso de semillas tratadas con pesticidas sembradas en California.
