In honor of Juneteenth, Dress for Success San Francisco/San Jose will be closed tomorrow, Friday, June 19.
We pause to honor this day of freedom, reflection, and celebration.
Juneteenth is a time to recognize the courage, perseverance, and contributions of Black communities throughout history and today.
May we continue to learn from the past, celebrate progress, and move forward together with hope and purpose.

“Sometimes all a woman needs is one person in her corner saying, ‘You’ve got this.’”
For Dress for Success San Francisco/San Jose volunteer India Hines, those words are more than advice. They’re how she approaches mentorship.
Since 2022, India has helped women navigate career transitions, advocate for themselves, and build confidence through one-on-one coaching.
In one memorable coaching relationship, she worked with a woman struggling with imposter syndrome as she pursued a promotion and higher pay. Together, they practiced difficult conversations, refined emails, and built confidence until her mentee believed in her own value.
Her mentee got the promotion and the raise.
Another memorable coaching experience was working with Alma, who was returning to the workforce after two years as a full-time caregiver.
With her baby, Marcus, often sitting on her lap during coaching sessions, Alma was balancing motherhood and career aspirations at the same time. Through empathy, encouragement, and practical guidance, India helped her confidently take the next step in her career journey.
As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, entrepreneur, mentor, and advocate, India shares her story on our blog, reflecting on what Pride means to her, the power of mentorship, and how mental health, and community support helped her navigate a layoff, pursue two master’s degrees, and launch her business, Hair On-Call.
Inspired by moments of self-care, laughter, and learning in the salon chair, Hair On-Call was created to help more people access expert hair guidance and support wherever they are.
Now through June 30 (last day of Pride) India is offering our community 20% off a Stop Guessing Session with code Dress20. Book your appointment at https://hair-on-call.com/

“This program has been extremely helpful in allowing me the proper resources to break through into white-collar jobs.” — Kya, Project Premium participant
Access can change what feels possible.
Last year, Dress for Success San Francisco/San Jose launched Project Premium, a year-long career program created in collaboration with LinkedIn to help Bay Area women strengthen their LinkedIn profiles, use LinkedIn Premium tools, expand professional networks, and build job search strategies.
As a LinkedIn Global Impact Partner, we provided more than 490 women with LinkedIn Premium subscriptions, along with career coaching, profile optimization support, professional development workshops, and hands-on training to help them pursue new opportunities and move their careers forward.
The numbers tell part of the story. Participants like Kya and Marta show the real impact.
Thank you to LinkedIn, Drew Altizer Photography, Flextronics, Locomotive Partners, and the many volunteers who helped bring Project Premium to life.
Because access changes opportunity. ❤️

Today is Women Veterans Recognition Day.
If you’re a woman veteran navigating a career transition, exploring new opportunities, returning to work, or planning your next move, Dress for Success San Francisco/San Jose is here to support you.
We offer career coaching, resume and LinkedIn guidance, interview preparation, career clothing, AI and digital readiness programs, and a supportive community—all at no cost to the women we serve.
Women Veterans Recognition Day is not a separate Veterans Day for women. Instead, it commemorates the signing of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act in 1948, which granted women the right to permanently serve in the regular armed forces.
The leadership, adaptability, and experience gained through military service are invaluable. We’re here to help you build on those strengths and take the next step with confidence.
Know a woman veteran who could benefit from our services? Share this post and help us spread the word.
To the women veterans in our community: thank you for your service, leadership, and continued impact across the Bay Area. ❤️

The Disco Ball may be over, but the conversation continues. ✨
As part of our 20th anniversary celebration, we’re so grateful for the media partners, community advocates, influencers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters who helped share our story with their audiences and networks.
Together, this coverage helped shine a light on the women we serve and the many ways Dress for Success San Francisco supports women beyond career clothing through career coaching, digital skilling, financial education, and community.
A special note of gratitude goes to Sharon Seto, whose dedication and vision have been instrumental in growing The Disco Ball into the celebrated event it is today.
Sharon’s efforts to cultivate relationships with media partners and amplify awareness of our mission helped ensure this 20th anniversary milestone reached audiences well beyond the ballroom. Her commitment to Dress for Success San Francisco continues to open doors and create visibility for the women we serve.
Here are just a few media highlights. Thank you to everyone who helped amplify our mission. ❤️
