And with that, this year’s Green Schools Program presentations have come to an end! πŸ’§πŸŒŽ

A huge thank you to the teachers and school staff who welcomed Ventura Water into their classrooms this school year. It was a pleasure connecting with students throughout our community, and seeing their curiosity and enthusiasm made every presentation incredibly rewarding. ✨

Our Green Schools Program is designed to help students learn about the importance of water conservation, local water resources, the water cycle, and sustainable practices they can apply in their everyday lives. Through these interactive presentations, we hope to inspire the next generation to become informed environmental stewards and responsible community members.

Over the course of nearly a year of deliberation, the City of Ventura underwent an extensive water and wastewater rate study to evaluate the City’s water rate tiers, water shortage rates, wastewater rate structure, and financing options for major projects. City staff and a third-party financial consultant worked with the City's finance team and financial advisors to develop a cost-of-service study and rate model. The process included multiple public meetings and presentations to the Water Commission, and on December 16, 2025, after the Public Hearing for Water and Wastewater Rate Adjustments, Ventura City Council unanimously approved five-year water and wastewater rate increases. βœ…

Ventura Water is dedicated to providing reliable water services, investing in the maintenance and improvement of its vital infrastructure and equipping residents to be drought resilient. Rate increases will support both daily operation and maintenance of the City’s existing water and wastewater systems, along with planned capital improvement projects, including the long-anticipated State Water Interconnection Project and VenturaWaterPure Program. πŸ’¦

A rate increase will become effective July 1, 2026, to account for increased costs to operate and maintain the water and wastewater systems. All bills after July 1, 2026, will reflect the new rates; there will be no proration between the old and new rates. To estimate the change to your water bill, utilize the bill calculator on our website.

Our team is in the field, upgrading underground water lines along Foothill and Kimball Roads to improve water reliability and strengthen Ventura’s overall delivery system. This project will provide an improved physical connection to transport water more efficiently from the east end of the City into the midtown area, as we install approximately 8,500 feet of new underground pipeline.

Keep swiping to see what was filtered out πŸ‘€

πŸ’§ On May 19, the Water Distribution team flushed approximately 2,000 linear feet of water main as part of ongoing water main maintenance efforts to help improve water appearance and maintain system performance. πŸ‘πŸ»

Our team completed the operation using the NO-DES (Neutral Output Discharge Elimination System) truck. Unlike traditional flushing methods that can waste large amounts of water, the NO-DES system recirculates and filters the water during the process β€” helping conserve water while improving water quality. β™»οΈπŸ’¦

During flushing, hoses are connected between nearby hydrants and water is circulated through the truck’s advanced filtration system, which removes sediment, turbidity, and biofilm buildup over time.

Throughout the process, water quality is continuously monitored and equipment settings are adjusted as needed to ensure effective flushing. βœ…

πŸ‘ Big thank you to our field crews for the important work they do to help maintain reliable water service for the community! πŸš›πŸ’™
