We’re proud to spotlight Byrd Barr Place, a cornerstone of community action in Seattle and a powerful force for racial and economic justice.

Founded in 1964 as the Central Area Motivation Program (CAMP), Byrd Barr Place has spent over 60 years helping individuals and families move from poverty to self-sufficiency—while building lasting strength in the Black community and beyond. Today, they continue that work from a beautifully renovated historic firehouse through advocacy and essential programs like their food bank, The Market.

At the NEUAC Annual Conference, attendees will hear directly from Byrd Barr Place representatives in multiple sessions—and we’re proud that a portion of our conference raffle proceeds will support their work.

NEUAC Executive Director Katrina Metzler joined the Heat the Streets Run & Walk for Warmth in Omaha, Nebraska last week.

Hosted by Metropolitan Utilities District and Omaha Public Power District, the annual event raises funds for local utility assistance programs that help households keep the lights on and their homes warm.

Proceeds are administered by Dollar Energy Fund, supporting energy assistance efforts across the region.
