We’re fighting for every single one of us.

Pride Month is a reminder that the ongoing fight for justice, equity, and dignity must include all people within our communities. We reflect on the Black LGBTQ+ leaders and visionaries who have always pushed our movement forward, from Bayard Rustin organizing the 1963 March on Washington and James Baldwin prolifically writing our lived experiences to activist Marsha P. Johnson, who once said “There is no pride for some of us without liberation for all of us.”

This comes at a particularly challenging time as trans, nonbinary, and other members of the + community face intense social and political pressures. We must continue to and insist on full belonging.

On Memorial Day, we honor those who died in service to this nation and secured our freedom. We owe them and their loved ones everything.

To all who are mourning, reflecting, and healing today, we extend our deepest gratitude and send you comfort and peace.
