The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) concluded its two-day induction and strategic planning meeting, which brought together staff members from all regional offices at the Commission’s Head Office.

In his closing remarks, ACC Director-General Paulus Noa expressed appreciation to all staff members for their active participation and dedication throughout the engagement. He encouraged colleagues to remain committed to the fight against corruption, diligently execute the Commission’s mandate, and continue fostering a culture of mutual respect, professionalism, and teamwork.

The meeting provided a valuable platform for reflection, collaboration, and strategic planning as the Commission continues to strengthen its efforts to combat corruption in Namibia.

During the engagement, Executive Director Tylvas Shilongo presented on the ACC’s mandate, strategic objectives, and core values, emphasizing transparency, accountability, effective corruption prevention, stakeholder engagement, and organizational performance. Discussions also highlighted the importance of Integrity Committees, institutional independence, and partnerships with key stakeholders in advancing anti-corruption efforts.

The two-day gathering further enabled departments to share experiences, strengthen coordination, and align their efforts towards promoting integrity, accountability, and a corruption-free Namibia.

Together, we remain committed to building a nation founded on honesty, ethical leadership, and good governance.

The Anti-Corruption Commission Namibia (ACC) has convened staff members from all regional offices for a two-day induction and strategic planning meeting at its Head Office. The gathering serves as an important platform for reflection, collaboration, and charting the future direction of the Commission in its continued fight against corruption in Namibia.

During the meeting, Executive Director Mr. Tylvas Shilongo delivered a comprehensive presentation on the ACC’s mandate, highlighting the Commission’s core values, strategic pillars, and objectives. He emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability as key drivers in strengthening information management systems, enhancing performance management and accountability mechanisms, reinforcing corruption prevention measures, and improving compliance across public institutions.

Mr. Shilongo further outlined the Commission’s commitment to strengthening stakeholder engagement, improving organizational performance, and ensuring an effective regulatory framework to support anti-corruption efforts. He stressed that the success of the ACC depends not only on its internal capacity but also on the willingness of the public to report corruption, strong political commitment demonstrated through adequate legal powers and resources, and effective collaboration with key partners such as Namibian Police Force (NAMPOL), Namibia Revenue Agency-NamRA, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders.

The Executive Director also underscored the significance of Integrity Committees across Offices, Ministries, and Agencies (O/M/As), Regional Councils, and Local Authorities, as well as the need to safeguard the independence of the ACC to effectively execute its mandate.

Recognizing the growing demand for its services, the Commission is currently reviewing its organizational structure to address staffing challenges, strengthen operational capacity, and enhance visibility across all regions of the country.

The two-day engagement will provide an opportunity for all departments to share insights, strengthen coordination, and learn from one another as they work towards a common goal of promoting integrity, accountability, and a corruption-free Namibia.

📚 PROMOTING ETHICAL LEADERSHIP IN SCHOOLS

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) continues to strengthen its efforts in promoting integrity, accountability, and ethical leadership across Namibia.

Today, ACC Public Education and Corruption Prevention Officers, Mr. Alexander Ngola and Mr. Tomas Ntinda, addressed school principals from across the Khomas Region during a principals' meeting held at Havana High School in the Havana Settlement.

The engagement formed part of the Commission's mandate to educate and empower leaders on ethical conduct, good governance, and corruption prevention. School principals play a critical role in shaping the values and character of future generations, making them key partners in the fight against corruption.

During the session, the officers highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of integrity within educational institutions and emphasized that corruption can undermine the quality of education, erode public trust, and negatively impact learners' opportunities. Participants were encouraged to lead by example and to promote transparency, fairness, and accountability in all school operations.

The ACC further encouraged schools to invite the Commission to conduct Corruption Risk Assessments, Integrity Awareness Sessions, and Educational Outreach Programmes aimed at equipping both educators and learners with the knowledge and tools needed to identify, prevent, and report corrupt practices.

By educating young people and empowering educators, we can cultivate a generation that values honesty, accountability, and responsible leadership. Together, we can build stronger institutions, protect public resources, and create a corruption-free Namibia.

On this Genocide Remembrance Day, Namibia bows its head in memory of the countless innocent lives lost during the 1904–1908 genocide. We remember the men, women, and children who suffered unimaginable cruelty, displacement, hunger, and death. Their pain forms part of our national history and collective memory. 🕯️🇳🇦

This day carries deep emotional significance for every Namibian. It reminds us of the importance of human dignity, justice, unity, and the responsibility we all share to protect future generations from suffering, oppression, and injustice.

As the Anti-Corruption Commission, we recognize that corruption is also a betrayal of the people. While different in form, corruption continues to create suffering whose outcomes can still be seen in our communities today: underdeveloped schools, poor healthcare services, unemployment, incomplete public projects, poverty, inequality, and limited opportunities for ordinary citizens. Resources meant to uplift communities are diverted through greed and abuse of power, leaving many Namibians struggling for basic services and a better future.

The scars of history teach us that silence in the face of wrongdoing can have devastating consequences. Corruption thrives when accountability is ignored and when society remains silent against injustice.

Today, we honour the memory of those who suffered by committing ourselves to a Namibia built on integrity, accountability, fairness, and respect for human dignity. Let us remember that protecting public resources is also about protecting people, preserving dignity, and safeguarding the future of generations to come.

May this day remind us not only to remember the past, but also to actively protect the future by rejecting corruption, promoting justice, and standing together as one nation.

Their voices may be silent, but their story must never be forgotten.
Their suffering must inspire us to build a better Namibia for all.

📍 The Anti-Corruption Commission’s National Stakeholder Consultations have officially come to an end in Rundu at Hotel Rundu, marking the successful completion of engagements across all 14 regions of Namibia. 🇳🇦

Today’s session in Rundu, Kavango East Region, was characterized by meaningful discussions, active participation, and valuable contributions from stakeholders who remained fully engaged throughout the consultations. Representatives from various sectors came together to share experiences, concerns, recommendations, and practical ideas aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, ethical leadership, and integrity across the country.

What began in Gobabis, Omaheke Region on 16 March 2026 has now concluded in Rundu, reflecting a collective national effort towards shaping stronger anti-corruption strategies and policies for Namibia. Throughout the journey, the consultations created an important platform for dialogue and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that voices from all 14 regions contribute towards the development of the Draft National Anti-Corruption Strategy (2026–2030) and the National Ethics & Anti-Corruption Policy Framework.

The ACC extends its sincere appreciation to all stakeholders, regional leaders, community members, institutions, churches, youth representatives, civil society organisations, the private sector, the media, and all partners who took part in this important national process. Your commitment and participation continue to play a vital role in strengthening the fight against corruption and promoting a culture of accountability and integrity in Namibia.

📍 The next phase will be the Validation Consultation Meeting scheduled for 02 June 2026 in Windhoek, Khomas Region, where all recommendations and contributions gathered from the 14 regions will be reviewed and validated before submission to decision-makers and lawmakers.
