The PCIC Extension Office-Negros Occidental was invited to the Farmersโ Organization Summit held on April 16, 2026, at the Function Hall Complex Building Murcia, Negros Occidental. During the event, PEO Head Ariel Batuigas served as a resource speaker and introduced the PCIC Banner Programs to the participants. His presentation focused on the various insurance products and services available to the local farming community, ensuring that the participants present were well-informed on how to access crop insurance to protect their livelihoods against unexpected calamities.
The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) remains committed to supporting the agricultural sector by providing insurance protection to farmers and fishers nationwide. Through the government's subsidized programs, farmers registered under the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) can avail themselves of free insurance coverage. This initiative ensures that those in the registry are protected against financial losses caused by natural disasters, pests, and diseases, helping them recover quickly and sustain their farming operations.

The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), in coordination with the Passi City Agriculture Office, conducted an orientation on High Value Crops specifically for sugarcane, alongside a mass enrollment activity held from April 14โ16 and April 21โ23, 2026. This initiative successfully insured 924 farmers covering a total land area of 1,037.97 hectares, with a Government Premium Subsidy (GPS) amounting to P2,123,440.60 under the RSBSA Program. The events took place across several clustered barangays in Passi City, including Cairojan, Bagacay, Quinagaringan Grande, Pangi, Aglalana, Agtambo, Dalicanan, Jaguimitan, Agtabo, Alimono, Mulapula, and Nueva Union.
The activity involved a dedicated team of insurance underwriters including Marivelle Palomo, Ryan Ballesteros, Rey Homerez, Jose Gamarcha, Alvin Galapin, Raffy Halamane, Ronel Betic, and Ivan Greiy Diono. They were supported by insurance processors Hussel Rey Hurtada, Rosalyn Abad, Aica Belicena, and Rubie Mea Gallaron, as well as insurance adjuster Khent RD Almendralejo and Passi City Agriculture Office PCIC Focal Norlie M. Villa. The insurance provides vital coverage against natural calamities, drought, accidental fire, and pests and diseases in the event of an epidemic.
During the event, Barangay Chairman Jimcel Balanueco of Aglalana, Passi City, expressed his gratitude, stating that the barangay council thanks the PCIC and the Passi City Agriculture Office for bringing these essential services directly to the local farmers. Furthermore, PCIC Focal Norlie Villa emphasized the importance of the program, highly encouraging sugarcane farmers to avail of this insurance for free under the RSBSA program to ensure protection against potential crop losses.

April 8, 2026, PCIC turned a milestone into a reality in Cauayan, Negros Occidental, Insurance Underwriter Dan Adriel Baldove delivered an indemnity check to Mr. Servando L. Chavez. This payment serves as compensation for his damaged coconut crops. Notably, this marks the first time a coconut farmer in Cauayan, Negros Occidental has received such a claim. The local agricultural technicians and the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of Cauayan expressed their sincere gratitude to the PCIC for this historic support and for addressing the needs of the coconut sector.

PCIC Regional Office VI successfully convened its STRATCON 2026 at the Regional Office Conference Room, with sessions held between March 24 and April 8. This strategic gathering brought together Provincial Extension Offices from across the region to synchronize their efforts and align on future organizational goals. The resulting roadmap prioritizes a technology-driven transition, integrating "PABS" literacy, geo-tagging, and digital payment systems such as GCash and PalawanPay to ensure faster, more accurate service delivery for farmers.
Regional Manager II Eva Ulie Laud emphasized that these advancements and increased stakeholder engagement aim to build a resilient agricultural support system anchored in integrity, innovation, and excellent service delivery.

The Capiz provincial government is partnering with the PCIC Regional Office 6 to expand the Calamity Crop Insurance Project for 2026. During a meeting on March 23, 2026, officials discussed broadening coverage to include sugarcane, livestock, and fisheries under the Calamity Crop Insurance Program.
The proposed expansion follows a successful 2025 performance that insured 3,853 farmers and covered over โฑ124M in assets. By adding high-value crops and aquaculture to the framework, the province aims to provide a stronger safety net for local producers against the impacts of climate change.

The University of San Agustin presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Regional Office VI during the Corporate Thanksgiving Dinner held on March 31, 2026. Regional Manager II Eva Ulie D. Laud received the award on behalf of the corporation during the event, which was themed "A Gratuity Dinner Honoring Our Industry Partners," celebrated the collaboration between the academe and industry leaders. PCIC RO6 currently supports the universityโs internship program by hosting four on-the-job trainees, with three students assigned to the Regional Office and one stationed at the Provincial Extension Office in Iloilo. This recognition highlights the corporation's role in providing a professional environment for students to apply their academic learning in the field of agricultural insurance.

Celebrating National Womenโs Month with a focus on health and community, the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Regional Office VI organized a series of engaging activities throughout March 2026. The festivities began on March 17 at the Iloilo City Esplanade, where personnel gathered for an afternoon fun walk along the scenic riverside. This activity transitioned into an energetic Zumba session, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and physical wellness among the staff while honoring the vital role of women in the agency and the agricultural sector.
This commitment to women's well-being continued on March 26, 2026, as PCIC Region VI personnel attended an insightful Zoom forum titled "Her Changing Seasons: Conversations on Perimenopause and Menopause to Support Women's Health and Well-Being." Organized by the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), the UP Gender and Development Program, and UGSAD The Regional Gender Resource Network of Western Visayas, the webinar provided essential knowledge on navigating different stages of women's health.
To formally conclude the monthโs celebration, PCIC Region VI conducted a simultaneous appreciation activity on March 30 across its Regional Office and all Extension Offices. During this event, walk-in clients were greeted with commemorative tote bags and snacks as a gesture of gratitude for their continued partnership.
By integrating fitness advocacy with frontline service, the regional team successfully highlighted its commitment to both its employees and the farming and fishing communities of Western Visayas.
