A forest is a living story of many forms, many colors, and many lives.
Biodiversity sustains it all, and maybe, in our own way, we do the same when we embrace every kind of existence.
The Forest Management Bureau of the DENR provides technical guidance, through policies and programs.

25-26 May 2026, Rome, Italy | FMB participated in the Workshop on Climate Change and Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture
The Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture - Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) convened a global multistakeholder workshop on Climate Change and Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, this May 25-26, 2026 in Rome, Italy. Representing the Forest Management Bureau (FMB), Assistant Director Atty. Ray Thomas F. Kabigting participated in the workshop to contribute to the global dialogue on best practices and innovations in harnessing the role of genetic resources for food and agriculture in climate change mitigation and adaptation.
In light of the revised baseline report on genetic resources for food and agriculture and climate change, the workshop concluded that the Voluntary Guidelines remain highly relevant but must be modernized to integrate climate change mitigation strategies alongside adaptation, while embedding institutional support for indigenous and traditional knowledge.
Beyond updating current voluntary policies, the workshop took concrete steps towards changing how the international community tracks environmental stress. Hence, delegates discussed key topics to be included in stateβofβtheβworld country reporting questionnaires and identified gaps and corresponding responses to the identified priority topics.
Through the productive exchange of best practices among participating countries and organizations, FMB is confident that this successful exchange lays the groundwork for a more unified global response. The strengthened collaborations will directly drive the refinement of national adaptation plans, turning shared knowledge into measurable climate resilience on the ground.

FMB CONVENES THE SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT STAKEHOLDERSβ FORUM AMPLIFYING FUTURE COLLABORATION WITH NCIP
The Forest Management Bureau (FMB) spearheaded the conduct of the Sustainable Forest Management Stakeholdersβ Forum on May 26, 2025, bringing together representatives from the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, the Presidential Agrarian Reform Council Secretariat, the National CBFM-PO Federation, and DENR Central and Field Offices to strengthen inter-agency collaboration on sustainable forest management initiatives. The blended event is presided over by Forester Kenneth T. Almarines, Officer-in-Charge of the Forest Resources Management Division.
With the main objectives of addressing issues and concerns relevant to the tenured areas and discuss areas for collaboration with the NCIP, the forum highlighted key discussions on the collaboration between DENR and NCIP for the orientation of 2026 FPIC guidelines; clarifications regarding NCIP certification processes for tenurial instruments and non-extractive projects like carbon projects; and advancing a DENR-NCIP data sharing initiative for more efficient management, monitoring and assessment of the countryβs forestlands and resources.

We join the Filipino Muslim community and all those celebrating around the world in observing Eid al-Adha.

Wishing everyone peace, blessings, and prosperity on this holy day.
