Hello Friends,
The library is kicking off the Adult Reading Program this weekend and we have a few volunteer opportunities if you would be so kind as to donate your time.
On Sunday April 4/19/2026 During the Adult Reading Program Kickoff the Friends need assistance in our booth from noon to 4pm. Our booth will be greeting patrons and giving away free temporary tattoos to those that are interested. If you can help, for all or even part of it, please reach out to the Friends Treasurer Kathleen Crawford Rose via email at [email protected] You can get yourself registered for the program while you are there too!
Next Saturday April 25, 2026 the library is hosting a Fix-it Clinic and needs a person or two who can greet patrons at the door and direct them to which corner of the library the assistance they seek is stationed. Hours for this event are 1pm-4pm. Please contact Laura via email at [email protected] if you can assist.
Saturday May 30, 2026 assistance is needed during the spelling bee to monitor the participants and help the event run smoothly. Hours are 12:30pm-2:30pm. Again, please email Laura with Adult Services at [email protected] if you can help.

The annual general meeting of the Friends of the Bellevue Public Library will be held from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 26, in the big meeting room of the library. We have only one general meeting every year, and this one promises to be both fun and informative! Kristine Woods of the library staff will tell us about some of the new books for children, young adults, and adults available for checkout. She will also let us know about those very popular books that might make a perfect gift for someone we know.
We will all enjoy refreshments and some of us will win a door prize. The general meeting is open to everyone. Please invite friends, neighbors, cousins, your brother-in-law, anyone who loves books. Register to attend Let’s Talk Books on the library web site.

Dear Friends of BPL,
DISCARDED BOOK CRAFT KIT PROJECT
We will meet again on Monday, August 25th, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. in the meeting room of the Bellevue Public Library. We are making progress! We will continue to count and cut pages, and we will begin to package kits for sale.
If you own a small paper cutter and are willing and able to use it, please bring it. The basket might be a very popular kit, but it requires us to pre-cut hundreds of strips. A few of the angel kits are ready to assemble, though we still need to proofread and print the instructions.
Everyone is welcome! Many hands make light work.

New dates for the discarded library books project!
We have the meeting room reserved on Tuesday, August 5th, and Monday, August 25th, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. to continue our pages project. I hope we can choose three (or four?) kits, decide how many of each to start with, and begin to assemble them over these next two meetings.
Depending on the kits we choose, we may need to disassemble more discarded books. That basket uses lots of pages, and those pages must be pre-cut for the kits.
We will also need to write clear directions for each project.
I know Tuesday may not be the best day for some of you who have been to every Monday session, but the meeting room is in high demand. This is the best we could do.
Everyone is welcome. No experience is necessary. If you can come to only one meeting, that is enough to be a big help. We do have fun.
Hope to see you soon.
