Yesterday, the City of Groton and the New London NAACP Branch held its annual Juneteenth celebration at the City of Groton Municipal Building. We extend our sincere thanks to Shamare Holmes for serving as our keynote speaker and to Lauren Clifford for sharing her inspiring poetry during the ceremony.
We also thank our community partners, elected officials, participants, and residents for joining us in commemorating this important day of reflection, education, and celebration. Your presence helped make the event meaningful and memorable for all.

From her early work in juvenile justice with StreetSafe Bridgeport to founding programs that support women and children impacted by incarceration, she has remained committed to creating meaningful opportunities for others.
Today, as Director of Community Relations for the Connecticut Sun, she continues to build bridges and uplift communities through purpose-driven leadership.
