Philadelphia City Controller The Philadelphia City Controller promotes honest, efficient, effective, and fully accountable city government.

The City Controller is one of nine popularly elected offices in the executive branch of City of Philadelphia government. Independent of the Mayor and City Council, the City Controller conducts independent audits and analyses that provide objective information to city officials, the public, and other interested parties about the city’s financial affairs, and on ways to improve city operations and the use of public resources.

Now available on the City Controller's website: Department of Prisons Staffing Tracker. A tool maintained by the City Controller’s Office to provide clear, up-to-date information on staffing levels and vacancies across the prison system. The tracker is designed to promote transparency and accountability by giving Philadelphians insight into how correctional facilities are staffed and where critical gaps exist.
