Today, the City joined Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and DVRPC to announce a historic investment in the region's electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure.

Earlier this year, we announced ChargePHL, the City's public EV charging network - this funding will grow that program and accelerate its impact. Philadelphia will receive nearly $18 million to expand access to EV charging, which will give more residents a safe, reliable, environmentally-friendly option to get around.

Head's up! This weekend is the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta, so MLK Drive will be open to cars.

But fear not! The side path will still be open for walking, running, biking and rolling.

Next weekend, MLK Drive will be open for recreational use as scheduled.

We've seen the confusion - but here are the facts:

Speed cameras ≠ Flock cameras

Speed cameras only capture vehicles that are speeding in designated safety corridors and school zones. They are used to improve safety and reduce dangerous driving behaviors, not to track where people go. Understanding the difference helps us have a more informed conversation about street safety and technology.

Speed cameras keep Philadelphia safe.

There's a lot of misinformation about the Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) program - including that the program is a money grab.

That's not true.

Any money from speeding tickets goes directly back into making Philadelphia's streets safer. There is no profit, and there's no ulterior motive.

A new policy brief from Better Government Lab shows that the Zero Fare Pilot Program not only increased transit use for participants - it also made them more likely to trust City government.

Did you know that speed is what often determines how severe a crash is?

If someone is hit at 20 mph, there is a 1 in 10 chance that crash will be fatal.

Get hit at 30 mph, that likelihood of a death goes up to 5 in 10.

And 40 mph? There's a 9 in 10 chance of a death!

Speeding is a choice. It's unacceptable. Slowing down saves lives.
