Whitehall Fire Company, Station 301

At 9:24AM us and our first alarm assignment were dispatched to the 4300 Block of Colonial Park Drive for a reported house fire with entrapment. 301 Assistant arrived on scene with smoke showing. The trapped victim was successfully rescued by first arriving personnel. 301 Engine 1 arrived assumed first due engine and began fire attack. 116 Engine 1 laid out and 301 Engine 2 completed the connection. Two patients were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The fire is currently under investigation by the Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Our ladder truck is undergoing significant upgrades. Due to the substantial cost of a new replacement, estimated at $1.9 million, we have collaborated with borough officials to refurbish our 2008 Sutphen SP95. This vehicle has provided reliable service to our department, residents, and mutual aid departments for 18 years, notable for being the last pre-emissions truck of its kind. The truck is currently at the Sutphen Corporation facility, where it will receive comprehensive upgrades, including but not limited to: body work, paint, new pump components, seating, lighting, hydraulic system replacements as needed, tires, brakes, shocks, air bags, and air lines. Following these upgrades, the truck will be shipped to Penn Detroit/Allison for an in-frame overhaul of the engine and transmission. We anticipate extending the truck's service life by 10 to 15 years upon its return, achieving a cost savings of approximately $1.4 million for the borough and its taxpayers compared to purchasing a new truck. We appreciate the support from our mutual aid departments in providing aerial device services during the truck's absence. We expect its return this fall.

This evening at 18:47 we were alerted on the first alarm assignment into Mount Oliver for a house fire. 106 Assistant arrived on scene first with a 2 story residential and smoke showing from all 4 sides. 301 chief arrived on scene and went in on division 1, fire attack with Mt Oliver's crew. 301 Engine 2 was 3rd arriving. Our crew stretched a back up line to the floor above the fire performing searches, checking for extension and opening up. We were on scene for approximately 1 hour before returning in service to the borough. For many of the companies on scene tonight this was their 3rd working fire in less than 24 hours.

Last night at 8:39 pm we were alerted to Springvalley/Mckee Drive for a house on fire. At 8:40 pm 301 Chief arrived on scene of a 2 story single family with smoke and fire showing. At 8:43 301 Engine 1 arrived on scene. Engine 1's operator hooked up to the hydrant and 2 members stretched to the D side of division 1. They made entry into the kitchen where the fire was. Water on the fire in 7 minutes. All occupants were reported out however members did primary searches to confirm. One dog was removed from the kitchen. The fire was brought " under control " in 30 minutes once crews confirmed no extension throughout the house. Huge thanks to everyone that helped out last night! Thanks to station 270 for listening to the radio and lending a hand...😉

Whitehall Fire operated on scene with 14 personnel.

Fire is under investigation by the Allegheny County Fire Marshall's office.
