Yesterday, we gathered at Craft W**e & B**r to celebrate our 2026 ED Launchpad graduates!

Over the past 10 months, these dedicated nonprofit leaders have invested in their growth while continuing to lead organizations that make a difference across Northern Nevada. Along the way, they've strengthened their leadership skills, navigated challenges, shared experiences, and built meaningful connections with one another.

A heartfelt thank you to the Northern Nevada Endowment Fund donors, whose generosity makes this program possible, and to the Nevada Nonprofit Center for facilitating the program and supporting our nonprofit leaders throughout their journey.

Thank you to each participant for bringing your perspectives, experiences, and commitment to learning. Congratulations to the Class of 2026! We're proud to have been part of your leadership journey and can't wait to see the impact you'll continue to have in our community.

Last night, we gathered at the National Automobile Museum to celebrate the people and partnerships that help Northern Nevada thrive. Our Annual Meeting, “Guiding Our Community Through Connection,” captured the heart of the evening: what becomes possible when people come together to care for our home.

We explored the collaboration between Lithium Americas and the Community Foundation to build a new Orovada K–8 School, and how the Women’s Giving Circle at the Community Foundation helped spark a coordinated effort to strengthen systems delivering youth mental health support. We also honored our Legacy Society members, whose generosity will sustain and uplift our community for generations.

Special congratulations to Dr. Dennis Yamamoto, the 2026 James L. Pfrommer Award for Extraordinary Volunteerism recipient, for his dedicated service helping build Legacy Giving programs as a Board member at the Community Health Alliance Foundation.

Thank you to our donors, partners, board members, staff, and everyone who joined us. Your care for this community makes this work possible, and we’re grateful to move forward together.

When our neighbors face unimaginable loss, this community's generosity gives them something to count on.

To our major corporate donors supporting the 2026 Northern Nevada Wildfire Relief Fund: thank you. Your contributions reflect a shared commitment to the people who call Northern Nevada home and to helping those affected by this year’s wildfires regain their footing.

Recovery continues long after the immediate emergency has passed. Our partners at Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada have registered 205 households for assistance and connected them with resources and personalized case management. Your generosity will help sustain long-term recovery for neighbors who have lost their homes, faced damaged infrastructure, and are dealing with rebuilding costs that insurance may not cover.

That could mean helping an elderly homeowner on a fixed income repair a fire-damaged well so he can safely return home or helping a single mother who lost her home replace daily essentials and access counseling for her family. These are the challenges the Fund will help address in the months and years ahead.

To every business and individual who has stepped forward, thank you for showing our neighbors that they have a community behind them. Your support makes long-term recovery possible.

Last week, the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada's CFO, Matt Lazar, took the stage at the 2026 FAOG Conference in Salt Lake City, joining community foundation leaders from across the country to discuss smarter, more resilient financial planning.

From budgeting and forecasting to scenario planning and data-driven decision-making, the panel explored how foundations can remain agile while keeping long-term community impact at the center of their work.

We’re proud to see Matt share his perspective, learn from peers, and return to Northern Nevada with fresh ideas.

What a great evening with Northern Nevada’s nonprofit community!

Last night’s Nevada Nonprofits Mixer at AHA Connects reminded us how valuable it is to make space to connect. Strong communities are built on strong relationships, and we’re grateful for opportunities like this that bring our nonprofit community together.

We’re excited to see Nevada Nonprofits, our state’s new nonprofit association, which is working to strengthen and unify Nevada’s nonprofit sector.

At Monday’s Inspiring Local Philanthropy: Youth Mental Health event, we heard from phenomenal local organizations working to make youth mental healthcare more coordinated and effective for local families.

The evening left us hopeful—and ready to help. Thanks to an anonymous donor, the first $300,000 in local donations will be matched dollar for dollar as long as funds remain. Your gift can help local organizations strengthen support for young people, from prevention through crisis care.

Big things happen when young people discover the power of giving! 🌟

Vivi, a four-year High School Giving Circle participant, and program facilitator Fayth recently joined KOLO 8 Reno to share what makes this program so special. They discussed how hands-on exposure to philanthropy helps students find their voices, develop leadership skills, better understand local needs, and discover that they have the power to create meaningful change in their community.

Exciting news—the application deadline has been extended to September 10! There’s still time for Washoe County students in grades 9–12 to apply, gain valuable experience, and help decide how $10,000 in grants will support local nonprofits.
