What a joy to celebrate the soft opening of Lumberjack Landing park in Stillwater this past Tuesday!

With the project nearing completion, this beautiful stretch of the St. Croix River will soon be a place for our entire community to enjoy for generations to come.

I’ve had the honor of being involved since the beginning, when my friend Elayne Aiple called because she needed someone to help facilitate the sale of her beautiful riverfront property. From the moment I saw it, I knew what a special opportunity it could be for our community. Helping bring that vision to life has meant so much to me.

Thank you to the City of Stillwater, Washington County, the State of Minnesota and the many partners whose hard work and dedication have made this project a reality. So much care has gone into this special place, and I’m grateful to have been part of its story! 🌳

Something I worked really hard for over the last few years with the Minnesota Film Alliance was getting tax incentives for production companies to come to MN to film! They no longer go to California, but to Georgia and Canada for movie friendly business climates….and hopefully even more in MN!!

Want to see how state government works behind the scenes? The Minnesota Senate Intern Program is now accepting applications for the 2027 legislative session! Don't miss the opportunity to spend the legislative session learning at the Capitol, working alongside staff and legislators, and having a great hands-on experience. The internship program is one of my favorite features of our legislative session, because it's always so exciting getting to see future leaders in action!

Today I had the chance to see firsthand some of the incredible work happening inside the Earned Living Unit at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Stillwater.

I stopped by the Street Cuts barbershop during their Cuts 4 Vets event, where veterans received FREE haircuts from incarcerated, trained barbers. Even DOC Commissioner Paul Schnell got a fresh shave! 💈

But the tour didn’t stop there! Bobo showed me their impressive music studio and Brandon and Jermaine gave me a signed copy of their book, It Just Works: Real Stories & Behavioral Science From the Earned Living Unit, which they paid to have printed themselves.

The Earned Living Unit is focused on building skills, responsibility and opportunities to prepare people for life after prison. It was fascinating to get an inside look at the work happening there and meet some of the men behind it.

They’re hoping to announce more hours for Cuts 4 Vets soon, so stay tuned! What a great way to use their skills to give back to the veterans who served our country. 🇺🇸

It's hard to believe it was 25 years ago that families across the country woke up to tragedy and uncertainty.

Amid the heartbreak, people reached for one another. Communities came together. Strangers helped strangers. Heroes stepped forward. In the darkest moments, we came together. Today, we remember those we lost and honor those who served. Let us carry their memories and continue to tell their stories.

May we never forget the value of compassion, courage, and standing together. Never Forget.

Thanks for the article ! Both schools are absolutely gorgeous!! You can definitely see the River & Prairie themes throughout! Some lucky students in our district!

Open houses will be held Tuesday in Bayport and Wednesday in Lake Elmo.
