Our embassy celebrated , with our partners Ambassador Mulie Tarekegn and the Dutch community in Addis Ababa.

During the celebration Ambassador christine pirenne highlighted the importance of , binding agreements, sharing of power as well as solidarity and respect for human rights and international humanitarian law.

2026 was also celebrated in the context of the 100 years of bilateral relation between the 🇳🇱 and 🇪🇹

We the started trading with Ethiopia long before engaging in diplomatic relations. To borrow our ambassador’s words “… on our King’s birthday, children – generation after generation – sell toys they no longer want at street markets around the country. It is where the seeds for entrepreneurship are being planted!”

The past two days the President to Afar Regional State, his excellency Awol Arba, and different pastoral communities welcomed us to witness firsthand the implementation of the social safety net program (PSNP), which the 🇳🇱 has been donor of since its inception. They showcased how the program has provided access to water for irrigation, enabling communities to engage in sustainable agricultural practices. This contributes to self-reliance of communities confronted with recurring droughts.

We are pleased to have attended the closing ceremony of the ICU project in Ethiopia that was implemented by the Federal Ministry of Health of Ethiopia, the Netherlands-based (MEG) and .

Impressive project that installed ICU's in 60 hospitals across Ethiopia. Together with 22 suppliers, a total of 36.000 medical units were delivered. A good example of the important role of the private sector in international development.
