As part of the celebration of the National Correctional Consciousness Week (NACOCOW) 2026, the Calapan City District Jail conducted the CCF Biyahe Gift Giving Activity for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL), highlighting the value of compassion, generosity, and meaningful engagement in promoting their welfare and well-being.

The activity aimed to bring joy and encouragement to the PDL through the distribution of gifts, serving as a gesture of kindness and support. It also provided an opportunity to remind them that they remain valued members of the community and that hope, understanding, and compassion can make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Through initiatives such as this, the Calapan City District Jail continues to strengthen its commitment to humane treatment, rehabilitation, and positive transformation. The activity further reflects the spirit of NACOCOW 2026 in fostering a correctional environment founded on dignity, compassion, and the belief that everyone deserves an opportunity for a better future.

In line with the celebration of the 15th Community Relations Service (CRS) Month, the Calapan City District Jail participated in the conduct of the Livelihood Trade Fair held at Xentro Mall, Calapan City.

The activity aimed to promote livelihood opportunities, showcase locally made products, and strengthen community partnerships by providing a platform for entrepreneurship and economic empowerment. Through this initiative, the BJMP continues to support programs that foster self-reliance, productivity, and meaningful community engagement.

The activity highlights the importance of collaboration in building stronger communities and advancing the BJMP’s commitment to public service and rehabilitation.

𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗝𝗔𝗜𝗟 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛 𝗝𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗧 𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗬𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗 𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

The Calapan City District Jail, in collaboration with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), conducted a Joint Greyhound Operation as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen jail security, enforce institutional policies, and maintain a safe and orderly facility.

The activity aimed to prevent the entry and possession of prohibited items inside the jail facility, reinforce security protocols, and ensure the safety and welfare of both Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) and jail personnel.

This joint undertaking demonstrates the importance of inter-agency cooperation and collective commitment in maintaining peace, order, and security within the institution.

Persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Calapan City District Jail of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) are learning to make fuzzy wire flowers for Undas 2026, developing a practical skill they hope to turn into an additional source of income to help support their families.

For PDL “Akesha,” each handmade flower represents more than a decorative item for remembering departed loved ones. The activity aimed to extend support and assistance to PDL through the provision of essential personal hygiene items and snacks, demonstrating the importance of care, generosity, and concern for their welfare. The distribution also served as a meaningful gesture of solidarity, reminding participants that kindness and community support remain vital in fostering dignity and hope.

The outreach program highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting the welfare and rehabilitation of PDL. As part of the celebration of the National Correctional Consciousness Week (NACOCOW) 2026, the Calapan City District Jail conducted Parlor Games with Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) as participants to promote camaraderie, teamwork, sportsmanship, cooperation, and friendly competition.

The activity provided PDL participants with an opportunity to engage in fun and interactive games, showcase their skills, and strengthen their relationships with fellow participants. Through the various parlor games, the activity fostered positive interaction, mutual respect, unity, and a spirit of togetherness among the participants.

The activity highlighted the importance of recreational programs in promoting physical and mental well-being, social interaction, and positive engagement among PDL. It also served as a meaningful avenue for personal development, discipline, and rehabilitation, in line with the objectives of NACOCOW 2026.

In line with the celebration of the National Correctional Consciousness Week (NACOCOW) 2026, Calapan City District Jail successfully conducted a Medical, Optical, Dental, and Derma Mission for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL), reaffirming its commitment to promoting health, wellness, and the holistic well-being of individuals under its care.

The activity was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Philippine Dermatological Society, Oriental Mindoro Medical Society, Provincial Health Office, Sto. Niño Cathedral Parish, and Commission on Women’s League, whose shared dedication to public service brought essential healthcare services closer to the PDL.

The medical mission was attended by a team of dedicated healthcare professionals who generously shared their expertise and provided medical consultations and specialized services. The participating doctors included Dra. Ingrid Priela, specializing in Internal Medicine/Cardiology; Dra. Joanne Charisse F. Sy, MD, specializing in Dermatology and Skin Care; Dra. Rosalyn Sebastian, Pulmonologist; Dr. Arthur Sebastian, General Surgeon; Dr. Emmanuel Priela, Optometrist; and Dra. Patricia Caballero, General Medicine practitioner.

Dental services were also provided by Dra. Nelia Cantos, Dra. Elizabeth Macatol, Dra. Nerelyn Marciano, and Dr. Leo Espallardo, who extended their professional services to address the oral health needs of the PDL.

Through this initiative, the beneficiaries were given access to essential healthcare services, emphasizing the importance of preventive care, early detection of health concerns, and proper personal hygiene. The activity also highlighted the vital role of inter-agency collaboration and community partnerships in ensuring that healthcare remains accessible to all, regardless of one’s circumstances.

More than a healthcare initiative, the mission served as a testament to the spirit of compassion, inclusivity, and humanity that underpins the celebration of NACOCOW 2026. It reinforced the principle that every individual deserves dignity, quality healthcare, and opportunities for personal well-being, including those within the correctional system.
