It is always meaningful to come together for our annual Habuan Ramadan distribution. It is truly heartening to see community volunteers unite in the spirit of service, distributing porridge and fruits during this blessed period.

This special occasion reminds us of the values that define Ramadan, compassion, generosity, and care for one another.

May this spirit of giving continue to strengthen the bonds within our community.

The abrupt closure of this student care operator has affected students and parents of several schools, including Hong Wen School at Whampoa-Boon Keng. It has also affected livelihoods of student care teachers.

This is highly irresponsible. I am in touch with Ministry of Education, Singapore as well as the Education Services Union (ESU) , with whom I am an advisor.

First, we must ensure that our students have the continued student care that they need, and parents must have peace of mind. A new operator should be appointed quickly. And it must be an operator of better quality. In the meantime, there must be continued care at no extra cost to parents. MOE has assured me that they are working on this and will have further updates soon.

Second, the affected staff need to be supported, and they also need justice. The ESU will make this a priority. Now is the time for action. If you are an affected staff, please e-mail the Education Services Union at [email protected] now.
