Nico Martinez and Professor Juan Miguel Arias traveled to Portland, Oregon, October 6–7 for the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) Annual Conference!

Nico presented a poster highlighting his summer research in Austin, TX, titled “Shift in the Basin: Stoking Informed Engagement with the Boggy Creek Watershed in East Austin, TX.”
Dr. Arias shared his summer work with NAAEE’s Accreditation Revision Team, unveiling and gathering feedback on “NAAEE’s Higher Education Accreditation 2.0,” an initiative reimagining how NAAEE accredits higher education institutions.

We’re proud to see our Colorado College students and faculty engaging in environmental education, sharing research, and helping shape the future of the field!

Learning beyond the classroom! Education Department Professor Juan Miguel Arias joined Christina Leza for a convergence trip to Baca Campus, September 30–October 2, bringing together his Writing the Earth and Christina’s Love and Weakness CC120 classes!

From cooking together to hiking through the drizzly rain and spending time with Maya Papaya, our crew made the most of a few days in the beautiful Sangre de Cristo Mountains. A wonderful reminder that some of the best learning happens when we come together, explore, and embrace a little adventure!

We had the pleasure of hosting our former graduates at Mierow last Saturday during Homecoming Weekend! It was wonderful to reconnect, celebrate, and see how far our graduates have come. We are so proud of all our past and current education students and their many accomplishments! Once a part of our education family, always a part of our education family.

We’re extremely proud of our ED300 students who ran a seminar with researchers and policymakers at OECD last week! They discussed experiences with AI, how to create space for learning in the age of AI, and hopes for the upcoming years.

It’s already the third week in Paris! 🇫🇷

Our wonderful students are busy preparing to present at the UNESCO conference on Generative AI in the education sector. What an incredible opportunity to share their learning, perspectives, and research on a global stage!

We are so proud of all their hard work and dedication. Sending lots of luck and encouragement from back home as they prepare for this exciting presentation!

Dr. Mike Taber is currently in Paris, France, with a group of students studying Creative Critical Inquiry! Students are embracing the city’s rich literary and artistic history—and even stopping by the residence of writer Ernest Hemingway.

At the Green Box Arts Festival artist talk on July 5, Shannon Mello (MAT '11) credited her ten years of teaching art to middle school students as inspiration for her now full-time career as an artist. Green Box Executive Director Scott RC Levy and Shannon's family participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony in Green Mountain Falls.
