Last week, I had the pleasure of speaking at the Teamsters Local 2010 Leadership Conference. It is the dedication of the members that makes California’s world-class higher education systems work.
Today marks the 4th anniversary of the Uvalde mass shooting, where 19 students and 2 teachers at Robb Elementary lost their lives to gun violence.
Since then, hundreds of school shootings have occurred across the U.S.
Enough is enough. We must strengthen gun safety laws to protect our children, educators, and communities from this ongoing tragedy.

California is helping to fight childhood food insecurity this summer break with SUN Bucks!
No child should miss meals or go hungry when they are out of school.
California is launching SUN Bucks for summer 2026, providing eligible families with $120 per child in food benefits to combat food insecurity while children are on summer break & without access to free school meals.
The California Department of Social Services has begun mailing electronic benefits transfer (EBT) cards with SUN Bucks food benefits. Learn more at cdss.ca.gov/sun-bucks.
