🏳️‍🌈 As we celebrate Pride Month, we honor the courage, resilience, and leadership of the le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual, and Two-Spirit, + (LGBTQIA2S+) communities whose advocacy has helped build a more just and inclusive society.

June marks the anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising of 1969—a pivotal moment in the fight for LGBTQIA2S+ rights led by trailblazers such as Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera. Their legacy continues to inspire efforts to advance equity, dignity, and belonging for all.

At the Governor's Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI), we recognize the invaluable contributions of LGBTQIA2S+ communities to California's past, present, and future. Together, we remain committed to creating healthier, safer, and more sustainable communities where everyone can thrive.

🌈 We're also proud to join colleagues from the California Natural Resources Agency and partner agencies at the Sacramento Pride March on June 14. We look forward to celebrating alongside staff, allies, friends, and family as we show our support for the LGBTQIA2S+ community and reaffirm our commitment to inclusion across state government.

☀️🌡️ Stay cool, stay safe! Today is National Heat Awareness Day—a reminder as we approach summertime and higher temperatures to hydrate, stay indoors (at home or in a cooling center), find shade if you're outside, take breaks, and protect those most vulnerable, including older adults, young children, outdoor workers, and pets.

💧 When hot weather is expected, check out:

And .ca 's CalHeatScore - https://calheatscore.calepa.ca.gov, a cutting-edge tool to forecast and rank the risk hot weather poses to public health and connect Californians with available resources to stay safe during extreme heat events.
🏠🌳 The state, including LCI, is preparing for a hotter future.

With ongoing work on CalHeatScore, an update to California’s Extreme Heat Action Plan moving forward, and a new round of our Extreme Heat and Community Resilience Program (EHCRP) underway, among many other efforts, California continues to prioritize building resilience and climate action to protect communities.

🧳 Earlier this month, LCI’s Military Affairs Team traveled to Washington, D.C., for a (ADC) convening. Over three days, we built relationships with counterparts from Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, and beyond — exchanging best practices and learning from other states tackling similar challenges.

🌿 We also heard from leading voices on land-use compatibility, encroachment, and emerging installation security issues. The conversations reinforced what we already knew: LCI’s flagship California Military Installations Readiness project is timely, relevant, and points to a clear path forward for statewide engagement.

✨California leads the way — our defense infrastructure is a national treasure that cannot be replicated or replaced.
