This week, I got to chat with the Child Care Providers Union on the way to Session (pictured first).

Team Wilson and I also met with the following groups over the last several days:

2. Jesse M. Bethel High School from Vallejo
3. The Budget Committee of the German Bundestag (the federal parliament of Germany)
4. The UCLA chapter of the American Lung Cancer Screening Initiative

And, (pictured fifth) I was job-shadowed by goddaughters on Monday 😊

My statement regarding the fatal shooting last night in Fairfield that followed a high school graduation ceremony:

“My heart is heavy.

“What should have been a night of celebration for Sem Yeto High School turned into tragedy due to senseless violence. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted.

“The Fairfield Police Department encourages anyone with information related to this incident to contact the Fairfield Police Investigations Tip Line at 707-428-7345 or email [email protected].”

Legislation Update: I am proud to say eight of my bills are headed to the Senate!

Among them were AB 1731, the California Healthy Food Procurement Act, and AB 1798, the Safeguarding Genetic Information Act.

The California Healthy Food Procurement Act would help address critical gaps in the state’s food system by supporting both farm viability and access to health foods in our children’s schools.

The Safeguarding Genetic Information Act would protect access to life and non-health disability insurance by prohibiting insurers from requiring us to undergo genetic testing.

Friday (May 29) was the “house of origin” deadline, meaning all the bills that originated in the California Assembly had to pass a Floor vote in order for them to continue the legislative process.

I look forward to getting these bills even closer to the finish line!

Happy Pride Month!

Yesterday, I attended Suisun Pride — a fundraiser to support the life-saving work of Solano Pride Center, such as HIV & STI prevention services, mental health services, case management, youth and senior services, as well as social and support groups.

It is vital our communities elevate and provide resources to vulnerable groups, including LGBTQ+ folks.

As the first legislator in the history of California to openly discuss being the parent of a transgender child, I believe it is crucial that the q***r community and its allies have champions in Sacramento.

Today, I attended the 156th Memorial Day commemoration at Mare Island Naval Cemetery in Vallejo and Fairfield Suisun’s Memorial Day tribute at the Old Solano Courthouse.

Together we mourn, honor, and remember all the brave Americans who have made the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedom and safety while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. 🇺🇸

Today, we joined the Vacaville Fiesta Days Parade for the 5th year in a row!

It was wonderful to be among my District community, helping to celebrate the city’s culture and heritage.

Thank you to the families who came out and to for providing the all-electric transportation!

Today, on California Nonprofits Day, I was proud to honor my Nonprofit of the Year: Solano Community Foundation. The Solano Community Foundation has been a trusted philanthropic partner dedicated to strengthening communities and improving quality of life across Solano County since 1996. This year, SCF celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Through its Building Community Muscle initiative, SCF brings nonprofit organizations together to strengthen their capacity, expand their access to funding, and foster collaboration. The organization also invests in students by providing teachers with microgrants to advance curriculum, curiosity, and student experiences.

Leslie Janik, SCF’s chief executive officer, accepted the Assembly Resolution on behalf of the organization. Thank you to SCF for its great work promoting community within the 11th Assembly District. I appreciate the work of the over 100 nonprofits recognized today, too.

On Monday, I spoke before students, parents, educators, labor leaders, and community advocates who visited the California State Capitol as part of the 23rd Annual Sacramento Bus Trip for Education hosted by Senator Dave Cortese.

My message to students: You matter. You do not need to be 18 and voting to civically engage.

Thank you to the adults who also visited — the parents, educators, and labor leaders — advocating for and caring about public education. You help build a stronger future for California.

From big rigs and delivery vans to school buses, passenger vehicles, and e-bikes, this livestream press conference will showcase clean transportation solutions already working across California.
Speakers will highlight the need for continued state investment in zero-emission vehicles, charging infrastructure, clean air, public health, and California’s growing clean economy.
The event comes as California lawmakers consider critical budget decisions that could shape the future of clean transportation funding and help communities reduce harmful air pollution.
