In 2024, 94.4% of children in the EU aged between 3 years and the starting age of compulsory primary education were participating in early childhood education. 📚👩‍🏫

🔹There were 20 regions in the EU where practically every child between the age of 3 and the age for starting compulsory primary education participated in early childhood education.

🔹Participation in early childhood education was below 85.0% in 17 of the 198 regions with available data.

The overall tax-to-GDP ratio (the sum of taxes and net social contributions as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP)) in the EU stood at 40.7% in 2025. 📊

Compared with 2024, the tax-to-GDP ratio increased most in:

🇩🇪Germany (from 40.3% in 2024 to 41.4% in 2025)
🇲🇹Malta ( from 29.3% to 30.3%)
🇪🇸Spain (from 37.2% to 38.1%)
