The City of Lansing Public Service Department provides the city with many essential services.

The Public Service Department's mission is to provide essential services to maintain a high-quality of life in the City of Lansing, Michigan. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-Recycling, trash and yard waste services (CART)
-Construction
-Maintenance of streets, sidewalks, bridges and trails
-Stormwater and sewers
-Issuance permit forms for right-of-way, soil erosion & sedimentation control, and transportation
-Forestry
-Upkeep of City grounds such as parks and other facilities
-Plowing and salting
-Traffic calming
-Issuance traffic advisories
-Management of the biking and walking network (including permitting scooters)
