I was honored to attend the Sudanese Grace Episcopal Church, Grand Rapids All Saints Day service. I’ve enjoyed joining several of their monthly gatherings over the past couple of years and appreciate their commitment to bringing elected officials and community leaders together.

It was wonderful to see the congregation celebrate their faith and live out Christ’s message by serving and loving their neighbors. Thank you for the warm welcome!

It was an honor to attend the retirement ceremony for City of Walker Police Department-Michigan Chief Keith Mankel and recognize his more than 30 years of dedicated service to the City of Walker, Michigan.

Since joining the department in 1993, Chief Mankel has devoted his career to protecting residents, supporting fellow first responders, and strengthening public safety throughout the community. His leadership, professionalism, and willingness to step forward when called upon reflect an extraordinary commitment to public service.

Thank you, Chief Mankel, for more than three decades of service and for the lasting impact you have made on Walker. Congratulations on your retirement, and best wishes for this next chapter.

Building relationships and listening to perspectives from across our communities are important parts of serving West Michigan. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of these conversations and connect with leaders who are making a difference in our communities.

It was great to visit West Michigan Aviation Academy (WMAA) and present a legislative tribute recognizing the school as Michigan’s highest-ranking charter school in the U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings.

WMAA gives students hands-on opportunities in aviation, engineering, robotics, and STEM, helping prepare them for exciting careers in high-demand fields. Congratulations to the students, teachers, and staff for making this such an outstanding school for West Michigan!
