๐ OPSWDO RECEIVES RECOGNITION FROM WVSU-CAF ๐
The Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (OPSWDO) received Certificates of Recognition from the West Visayas State University โ College of Agriculture and Forestry during Pasidungog 2026 held on May 25, 2026, at WVSU-CAF, Brgy. Jayobo, Lambunao, Iloilo.
The recognition was awarded in appreciation of the Provincial Government of Iloilo's unwavering support and exemplary service as a scholarship benefactor through its Educational Assistance Program for Indigenous Peoples (IPs) and Scholarship Program for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), helping deserving students pursue quality education and achieve their academic aspirations.
The recognition was formally received by Ms. Ruvielyn S. Serra on behalf of Acting Provincial Government Department Head Mr. Rani Melvi A. Cuarte.

๐ฃCalling All Interested Indigenous Peoples (IP) and Person with Disability (PWD) Applicantsโผ๏ธ
The Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (OPSWDO) located at the 2nd Floor, Iloilo Provincial Capitol, Bonifacio Drive, Iloilo City will now accept applications for the IP Educational Assistance Program and the PWD Scholarship Program starting JULY 20 until AUGUST 14, 2026.
These programs are presently being implemented by the Iloilo Provincial Government under OPSWDO which aims to provide educational assistance to economically disadvantaged and deserving IP and PWD college students enabling them to avail and finish quality tertiary education in public schools in the province.

The 3-day ECCD External Assessment held on May 25โ27, 2026 in Passi City was successfully conducted. More than an evaluation, the External Assessment served as a meaningful process of guidance, support, and continuous improvement โ helping strengthen practices and ensure quality ECCD services for every child. ๐
The Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (OPSWDO) extends its heartfelt gratitude to Atty. Stephen A. Palmares, Elyzer Chavez, the Sangguniang Panlungsod Members, Barangay Captains, Barangay Kagawads from the 51 barangays, parents, BNS, BHW, CSWD staff, and all dedicated Child Development Teachers and Workers from the 71 Child Development Centers for their unwavering support and commitment to the ECCD Program and Services.
We also sincerely thank all the hardworking External Evaluators for their time, dedication, guidance, and appreciation of the efforts of our committed Child Development Teachers and Workers. Your valuable contributions truly made the successful conduct of the assessment possible.

BALAY PAGBAG-O TRIUMPHS AT RESTORATIVE JUSTICE SPORTS DAY
Balay Pagbag-o, managed by the Iloilo Provincial Government through the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (OPSWDO) had successfull participated in the activity entitled: โStrengthening Restorative Justice Through Sports: Season Two,โ held on May 21, 2026 at Bo. Obrero Covered Gym in Barangay Obrero, Iloilo City. This activity was conducted by the Public Attorney's Office (PAO), in partnership as well, with Iloilo City's Dalayunan...Home for Boys.
Playing with teamwork and good sportsmanship, Balay Pagbag-o won the friendly match against Dalayunan Home for Boys. One resident was also honored with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for an outstanding performance. The OPSWDO extends its appreciation to the Public Attorneyโs Office, Dalayunan Home for Boys, and everyone who supported the event.
Balay Pagbag-o looks forward to more opportunities that promote rehabilitation, camaraderie, and positive community engagement through sports.

The Province of Iloilo Provincial Population Office, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Balasan headed by Hon. Mayor Filomeno V. Ganzon, through the Program for Resilience of Iloilo in Mind and Emotion (PRIME), successfully conducted the Capacity Development for Peer Helpers and Teen Center Coordinators: Orientation on Psychological First Aid (PFA) in Municipality of Balasan, Iloilo.
The activity aimed to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and preparedness of peer helpers and teen center coordinators in providing immediate psychosocial support to individuals experiencing emotional distress, crisis, and challenging life situations. Participants were oriented on the basic concepts and principles of Psychological First Aid, including active listening, empathy, emotional support, and proper referral mechanisms.
Through the collaborative efforts of the Provincial Population Office and LGU Balasan, the activity highlighted the importance of empowering youth leaders and community coordinators to become frontliners of mental health awareness and support within their respective communities.
The training was made possible through the dedicated efforts and coordination of PPO I Ms. Joyce Miane, whose commitment contributed greatly to the successful conduct of the activity. The initiative also reflects the continued commitment of PRIME and its partner agencies in promoting mental health, resilience, and psychosocial well-being among Ilonggos.

PRIME Helpline Orientation in Alimodian
The PRIME Team, in partnership with the Alimodian LGU, successfully conducted the PRIME Helpline Orientation today, attended by Barangay Officials from all 51 barangays of Alimodian. Alongside the activity, PRIME banners were distributed through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of Alimodian to further strengthen the visibility and accessibility of PRIME services at the grassroots level.
The PRIME Team also extends its appreciation and recognition to all 51 barangays for successfully passing their respective Executive Orders in support of the PRIME Program, reflecting their commitment to strengthening mental health support and community-based response mechanisms within their localities.
This activity was made possible through the support of Hon. Mayor Ian Kenneth A. Alfeche, through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer, Ma'am Mary Jane Onalee A. Amaguin and the Municipal PRIME Focal Person, Ma'am Grace Ann Agustin, in collaboration with our partner offices, the Iloilo Provincial Population Office, the Municipal Health Office (MHO).

The Iloilo Provincial Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) Committee, chaired by Governor Arthur R. Defensor Jr. and represented by Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul N. Banias, successfully distributed the DILG-administered package of assistance to thirteen (13) former rebels on May 20, 2026 at the Office of the Governor, Board Room.
โA total of โฑ645,000.00 in financial assistance was disbursed during the event to aid the beneficiaries in their transition back to mainstream society. Among the recipients, nine (9) regular members of the New Peopleโs Army (NPA) received โฑ65,000.00 each for their reintegration and livelihood assistance. Meanwhile, four (4) former members of the Militia ng Bayan received โฑ15,000.00 each to support their reintegration.
โThe distribution was held in close coordination with co-chair members and received strong support from the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (OPSWDO), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
โThis initiative underscores the Iloilo Provincial Government's firm determination to end local armed conflict and foster a peaceful, progressive, and stable Iloilo Province.
