Swedish Music Moments: Back in Lusaka for a second time 🇸🇪🎶🇿🇲

What an unforgettable evening celebrating the power of music to connect cultures! On Wednesday, the Swedish Embassy, in collaboration with Alliance Française de Lusaka, brought the spirit of EU Cultural Month to life with Swedish Music Moments - the second edition of a vibrant showcase of cross-cultural creativity. 🎷🪘

The stage lit up with incredible performances from Zambian favourites: Mr. Chanx, Mumba Yachi and Becky Chanteuse, who joined forces with the Swedish musician Lisen Rylander Löve. Together, they created a fusion of sounds - blending Swedish and Zambian music. 🇸🇪🇿🇲

A big thank you to all the musicians, our partner PAAGZ, and attendees who made this magical night possible. Here is to more Swedish-Zambian Music Moments! 🎶

Today, the Swedish Embassy would like to wish everyone a happy Africa Freedom Day!

In honour of this day, we all wore chitenge to work on Friday and the office was even more colourful than usual 🟡🔴🟠🟢🔵🟣

The Embassy of Sweden in Lusaka will be closed on Monday 25 May in observance of Africa Freedom Day. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday.

Arrived at Lake Tanganyika today. What a magnificent and majestic experience! And the most beautiful of sunsets.

We also visited the Moto Moto Museum in Mbala, a really interesting and well-kept museum. I particularly enjoyed the exhibition ”The Carriers of the Great War: Northern Rhodesia’s Police and Porters in World War I.”

Mbala of course carries a lot of historical significance being the place where the First World War finally ended, some two weeks after Germany officially had surrendered.

A slightly controversial start to the workday, but we will allow Martin to celebrate yesterday’s win - just this once.

Congrats to our colleague for keeping the team spirit (and club loyalty) high and congrats to Arsenal for the Premier League win 🔴

Fun fact: Viktor Gyökeres, the Arsenal striker with no. 14 on his back, is Swedish 🇸🇪
