Proud to share that my bill, AB 2465, passed off the Assembly floor this week and is now headed to the Senate!

So proud of my colleagues as we vote on hundreds of bills to uplift all Californians!

Yesterday, the Assembly passed a 22-bill package protecting our immigrant communities from Trump’s DHS, including my bill AB 2465, which bans state tax breaks to for-profit detention centers and other companies who contract with ICE and profit from Trump’s war on immigrants.

The house of origin deadline is this Friday. This means we are voting on hundreds of bills late into the night everyday. I couldn’t do this without my incredible Capitol staff who are keeping me briefed and ready!

I was proud today to stand with my colleagues in passing a 22-bill package, including AB 2465–no tax perks for private ICE prisons. As I said on the assembly floor: this is a reality for our communities. We’re not reading this in books.
