Congratulations on Russian Language Day, a holiday celebrated worldwide on the birthday of Alexander Pushkin, our great poet and creator of the language of modern Russian literature.

The Russian language is endlessly colourful and expressive. It serves as the foundation of the cultural, spiritual and historical code of our country – a civilisation state.

The language of Alexander Pushkin and Fyodor Dostoyevsky is a vital means of international communication. The “great and mighty” Russian language is one of the most commonly used languages in the world, including in the digital sphere. It is one of the official UN languages and the language of some other multilateral organisations. Speaking Russian means to have a key to the treasury of world art, advanced scientific achievements, and the most extensive economic opportunities.

I especially want to emphasise the unifying role of the Russian language in the efforts to strengthen peace and neighbourliness in Eurasia, shaping a new security architecture in Eurasia, and mutually beneficial cooperation. Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan upheld President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s initiative to establish the International Organisation for the Russian Language.

In March 2026 in Moscow, the first ministerial conference of this organisation marked the beginning of its work. It is important to note that all countries sharing its values can join the International Organisation for the Russian Language.

Some of our unquestionable priorities include the protection and support of those people who consider Russian their mother tongue. We will continue to counter any incidents of language discrimination and Russophobia decisively – wherever they take place. We will certainly fight for restoring the rights of those Russian and Russian-speaking people who have been openly terrorised by the neo-N**i regime in Kiev. Resolving this matter is among the necessary conditions for a long-term settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.

And, of course, we will continue to do what it takes to help our compatriots abroad as well as our foreign partners when it comes to learning Russian, studying in Russian, fulfilling cultural and educational projects.

The year 2026 has numerous commemorative dates associated with the Russian language. We are marking 225 years since the birth of Vladimir Dal, creator of the Explanatory Dictionary of the Living Great Russian Language, the 200th birthday of public figure and unrivalled satirist Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin, and the 90th birthday of prominent linguist and President of St Petersburg State University, founder of the Russian World Foundation Lyudmila Verbitskaya.

This year, the Foreign Ministry and the Russian World Foundation established an award for contribution to global Russian studies, named after Vitaly Kostomarov, outstanding linguist who stood at the origins of Alexander Pushkin State Institute of the Russian Language. This award is for merited teachers of the Russian language and literature from the general, higher and extracurricular education in foreign countries. Furthermore, the award will celebrate significant achievements in translation and research. We expect the first awards ceremony to take place this year in Moscow.

I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to everybody who loves the Russian language, the powerful Russian word, and who contributes to preserving the multifaceted heritage of the Russian world.

🎙 Выступление Президента России В.В.Путина на пленарном заседании XXIX Петербургского международного экономического форума (Санкт-Петербург, 5 июня 2026 года)

Основные тезисы:

• Мы видим, какие потрясения испытывают энергетические рынки, как провоцируется напряжённость в отдельных регионах, прежде всего на данный момент времени на Ближнем Востоке, как реализуется недальновидная политика европейской бюрократии, которая сопровождается агрессивной риторикой и ведёт к дальнейшей утрате позиций Европы в мировой экономике, а кроме того, подрывает региональную глобальную безопасность. Фактически европейские элиты провоцируют хаос, в который пытаются втянуть все новые и новые страны.

Эти процессы возникли не сами по себе, они стали следствием того, что мир переживает крупнейшую за последние десятилетия структурную трансформацию, причем такая трансформация это не переход от одной фазы цикла к другой. Происходит именно изменение самой парадигмы глобального развития.

• Стало очевидно, что инвестиционные планы, шаги по развитию бизнеса могут столкнуться с серьёзным риском, риском того, что внешняя инфраструктура, на которую они опираются, может быть использована против них, и потому государства начинают развивать собственные технологические решения, создавать свои маршруты поставок, свои институты.

Россия ощущает эти изменения в полной мере, сохраняется давление на нашу страну, но вместе с тем у нас стало шире пространство для манёвра, появились новые партнёрства, новые финансовые и технологические решения, мы осваиваем более перспективные рынки. Таким образом, Россия оценивает глобальные перемены не только как угрозу, но и как колоссальные возможности, и чтобы распорядиться ими, мы стремимся действовать быстро и прагматично.

• Мир становится более справедливым, когда экономический рост охватывает всё больше стран, когда возможности получают миллиарды людей, которые раньше были на периферии глобальной экономики. Очень важно, что новые центры роста хотят сами определять траекторию развития, получать большую долю добавленной стоимости, создавать свои бренды, стандарты и компетенции.

Так, если посмотреть на динамику мирового ВВП за последние 5 лет, то почти половину его ежегодного прироста, 49%, обеспечили государства БРИКС, тогда как вклад так называемой «большой семёрки» оценивается в 18%.

• Санкции и блокировка, а по сути, воровство международных резервов России необратимо повлияли на позиции мировых валют: доллара и евро. Это просто очевидный факт, нужно признать. Теперь все страны – хочу это подчеркнуть, все без исключения, – как и Россия, могут в любой момент лишиться доступа к своим законным активам, которые размещены в долларах или евро, а также к западной финансовой, платёжной инфраструктуре.

Мы с вами понимаем, что вопрос в недобросовестной конкуренции. Поводы могут быть разные, они всегда найдутся: как в нашем случае – конфликт на Украине, в каком-то другом случае – конфликт на Ближнем Востоке, конфликты в Африке, даже отношение к ЛГБТ-сообществу, – пожалуйста, можно придраться к чему угодно, но в основе все-таки одно и то же: это недобросовестная конкурентная борьба.

• Наличие собственной технологической базы принципиально важно для стран с большим населением, обширными территориями и самобытной культурой. Такие государства не могут выступать только пользователями чужих решений, ведь в таком случае они рискуют стать объектами управления со стороны чужих платформ. А как они будут использоваться это вопрос.

По сути, перед крупными государствами, настоящими цивилизациями стоит вопрос исторического выбора: либо они создают собственные платформенные и технологические контуры, либо превращаются в цифровую периферию. И здесь не нужно обманываться. Чужие сервисы поначалу могут быть удобными, но позднее обязательно проявится цена этой зависимости.

⚡️ Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova's statement on the shelling by the Ukrainian militants of a regular passenger bus in the DPR on June 3, 2026 (June 3, 2026)

The Kiev regime has once again exposed its inhuman neo-N**i nature by committing yet another cynical and bloody crime.

In the early hours of June 3, a regular Moscow-Simferopol passenger bus was shelled in the centre of the Yenakiyevo municipal district in the DPR. The bus burned out completely.

Seven people were killed, while eleven others, including one child, sustained injuries of varying severity.

❗️ We strongly condemn this terrorist act.

We express our sincere and deepest condolences to the families of those killed and wish the injured a speedy recovery.

The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case into the terrorist attack. The details of the crime, as well as all those involved, are being established.

It is noteworthy that, after the shelling, Ukrainian reconnaissance drones were spotted in the skies above the site of the tragedy, apparently documenting the aftermath of the war crime committed.

The Kiev regime, suffering defeat on the battlefield, is seeking to vent its impotent rage on defenceless civilians. This is exactly how the German N**i invaders and their Bandera accomplices acted more than 80 years ago as they fled the occupied territories, sensing their inevitable defeat.

❗️ We call on all responsible governments, relevant international organisations and independent media to firmly condemn the brutal terrorist attack in Yenakiyevo.

Silence over this crime, like its other heinous atrocities, amounts to approval of the Zelensky regime’s misanthropic policy.
